I would think, hope, & expect Mick & co to have too much respect for the real GnR to let these wanna-be gunners, these pretenders, share a stage with them.

You want to share the stage with the Stones, you have to earn that right, & this "band"(for lack of a better word) has definitely not earned anything, except a bunch of paychecks for being Axl's lackys, toadys, enablers, & apologists.

If the current lineup came on unannounced before a Stones concert, they would get booed off the stage.

No disrespect to the current lineup, but true rock fans don't give a shit about them.

DunkinDave, good post. W. Axl Rose misinterpreted my previous post. I said the Stones better make sure the shows are sold out, because it would affect ticket sales. Not in a good way. If GNR showed up, shows wouldn't sell out, and like you said, they would get booed off the stage. Axl would freak out and try and cause a riot. But with the Stones playing after GNR, a riot attempt would fail. Axl just isn't what he used to be, and about 99.9% of the world realizes this. GNR will NOT share the stage with the Stones.

You really think Stones fans wouldn't turn up because GN'R were opening?

Get Real??? Stones fans are from all generations. The new fans don't give a shit about GNR, and neither do their old fans. Only a small percentage would show up to see GNR. It would definitely affect ticket sales.

The old band opened for the Stones, no? What's the difference now? I think it would be a huge thing to do. This Rolling Stones' tour is gonna be HUGE and have some of the top bands/groups in the world opening for them. And you talk about how few GNR fans would be in the audience. Do you really think that there will be more Black Eyed Peas' fans in the show(s) they're opening in?

You took the words right outta my mouth.

Great point.

. . .  and @ $400 a ticket, not even Destiny's Child could get me to leave.

I think the timing is off for this, but if Axl were looking to get out on the road, I think opening for the greatest living band is a great choice. Maybe a NYC/LA swing only, no in between dates.

Oh come on. I agree new GN'R would get a less than warm reception from the Stones crowd (especially the guys who saw the GN'R on the Steel Wheels tour), but affect ticket sales? Please. We're talking about The Rolling Stones here, the greatest rock 'n' roll band ever. They could have Britney Spears opening for them and they'd still sell out in hours. The opening band makes no difference to the ticket sales when we're talking about the best band ever to walk the stage, man. And remember, they haven't toured for as long as new GN'R - the 2002 Forty Licks tour (they haven't toured with new material since 1997's Voodoo Lounge tour).

New Guns opening for the Stones would indeed be disasterous for new Guns, though.

You make it seem like all Axl has to do is snap his fingers & ta-da! Open for the Stones in NY & LA? No problem!

Get real, dude. Yea, of course opening for the greatest living band would be a great choice, no shit. I can name about a thousand other bands it ain't happening for, either. Axl is just one of them.

Somehow I don't see Guns N' Roses wanting to share the stage with the Rolling stones. They may highly respect The Rolling Stones for its honour but if they, esp Axl, are that keen on the stones is doubtful.

Actually i couldnt care less about whos going to warm up for GNR, when they are gong on tour someday...
Me neither. If the warm up band is good enough for a warm up. it's like a bonus.
