You're In The Jungle Toronto,You're Gonna Dieee

VELVET REVOLVER drummer Matt Sorum suffered a fractured hand as the result of a recent boating accident, and it appears that he will be unable to perform on the first few dates of the band's upcoming headlining tour. After a brief hiatus in July, VELVET REVOLVER's "Electric Wonderland Show" arena tour is scheduled to resume on August 11 in Mt. Pleasant Michigan. The band will play seven solo dates before joining Ozzfest on August 23 in Albuquerque New Mexico. Sorum is currently in physical therapy and plans to resume playing with the band on the first date of Ozzfest. It is still undecided as to who the band will choose to serve as a temporary drummer during Sorum's absence.

The band's current dates are as follows:

Aug. 11 - Mt. Pleasant, MI @ Soaring Eagle Resort
Aug. 12 - Columbus, OH @ Germain Amphitheater
Aug. 13 - Chicago, IL @ Tweeter Center
Aug. 15 - Greenbay, WI @ Oneida Bingo Casino
Aug. 17 - Springfield, IL @ Illinois State Fair
Aug. 20 - Las Vegas, NV @ Aladdin Resort & Casino
Aug. 21 - Tucson, AZ @ Valencia Anselmo Amp
Aug. 23 - Albuquerque, NM @ Journal Pavilion (Ozzfest)
Aug. 25 - Dallas, TX @ Smirnoff Amphitheater (Ozzfest)
Aug. 27 - Houston, TX @ CW Mitchell Pavilion (Ozzfest)
Aug. 28 - San Antonio, TX @ Verizon Wireless Amphitheater
Aug. 31 - Nashville, TN @ Starwood Amphitheater (Ozzfest)
Sep. 02 - Charlotte, NC @ Verizon Wireless (Ozzfest)
Sep. 03 - Jacksonville, FL @ Times Union Center-Morgan Theatre (Ozzfest)
Sep. 04 - West Plm Beach, FL @ Sound Advice Amphitheater (Ozzfest)

They might as well cancel...they've only canceled like 20 gigs so far? ? Roll Eyes

This could be very interesting. Will they choose a studio musician or somebody known in the biz?

I'm very tempted, but I won't it, no I won't say it...oh forget it....what if they choose Brain?? Lips Sealed? Wink

It won't surprise me one bit if they get Kretz. I dont thinkScott has bad blood with any of the guys from STP anymore, maybe with the exception of Robert. I read an interview with Duff saying how they talked to all of those guys and everything is cool between all of them.

I would like to see Kretz play with them that would be cool.

Yeah...Brain's gotta do what he's gotta do...  hihi

I don't know about Eric Kretz though. VR would then become like the GNR-STP connection then. One member of STP is ok, now two, then VR would be kind of a parody. Journalists would then joke about Axl hiring the Deleo brothers so he could cover STP songs too...imagine axl singing Interstate love song?

Lol, didn't he say something along the lines of Contraband being "crap"?

Yeah, maybe it would be a bad idea to further the "GNR-STP" connection. ?Although the whole thing might never be mentioned considering it's only 7 shows or so.

Thats the response to the band playing the dates with a replacement?

 Roll Eyes indeed...

Why dont you make note of how many dates theyve actually played?

People be realistic, that monkey alder could never fill Matt's shoes. I know alder's just choimpin' at the bit, sitting by his phone twrilling his drum stick through his hair, waiting for "the call".

However, the tour starts in week and alder would need to take drum lessons fro the next 5 years to learn to play "Lovin the Alien", and an additional 10 to learn Illegal Eye.

I personally think a couple of Matt's close frineds such as Chad Smith or Stephen Perkins could fill in.

Joey Kramer (Aerosmith), Matt Laug (Slash's Snakepit) or Taylor Hawkins (Foo Fighters, as Matt has worker with him...)
Those are my guesses.

it won't be Adler or Kretz it will be someone who can handle Matt's drumming on Contraband. Someone like Stephen Perkins of Janes Addiction who's friends with Matt or Josh Freese. Both guys can handle anything. I love Adler, slightly more than Sorum but they have 2 different styles Matt is too technical for Steve

rock and roll isnt about technic is about playing with your heart and put a lot of feelings in what you do...i just watched the vma88 gig (thanks lucio92) and steven plays...havinf steven out of the band was like when metallica fired dave mustaine back in the day...sure matt plays a lot and i respect that guy a lot and he?s one of my all time bad ass drumers with bonham but steven is the guy that plays with "less is much" thing that made guns big... remember when izzy said that after steven left the groove was gone... i dont think that steven would be good for velvet revolver but at least he will have a chance to show all of us he can really rocks!

No he spoke again a few months later and said he takes it back and thinks its a really good album.

what about Matt's replacement in Rockford [April 29 '05] ("Surrender"): Bun E. Carlos (Cheap Trick)? It was cool to see Matt up front for a mic stand...
