Spiraling up through the crack in the skye...

« on: July 31, 2005, 09:09:31 PM »

I've read where GNR has been described as one of the ultimate band "suicides".  Which I think is true.  Having said that, would you rather it have been this way or a "murder" by another band shoving them off the throne of the rock kingdom?  Or some version of the band still touring, recording but fading into oblivion with the relevancy of Quiet Riot or Poison or Great White just trying to hack and get by?

Hopefully, we'll get a Phoenix and see a new and awesome creation arise from the ashes!

It's hard to say.. On one hand I would want to see the band go for the long haul but I wouldn't want to see them looked at as hacks either.? ?I think if they stayed together they would have had the longevity that the likes of U2 and Aerosmith have.? I would have rather seen them stay together and playing shows today beer

I think they should just go straight to a reunion. Chinese Democracy is NOT going to be "earth shattering." If Axl would of been able to reclaim his throne as the God of Rock N' Roll , other musicians in the past would of done that too, but they didn't. Undecided

The bottom line is ... Axl either has a reconciliation with the old guys or he's a beaten down has-been. yes

It's very possible

If Axl can still spend time in the studio making music?singing, hopefully
If Slash and Duff can tour around the world with VR
If Izzy and Steven are still musicians as well too

a reunion is very likely

do you really think axl would be considered a has-been if he releases chinese democracy, but not if he would reunite with the old members???
reunions are 99% about the money and the members who reunite want to earn it from their glory past........ ? ? ? ? ? ?and axl`s comeback won`t be like other rock comebacks because he`ll be the first singer who totally changed the line up of his band and records an album with it.

Psychologically, you could consider this a reunion tour because I`ve managed to find enough pieces of my mind in order to be with you here tonight - - Axl Rose, Chicago 2002

Ever since 2002 , the public hates Axl. I'm just saying what's in my opinion. The new members are no match for a band with Axl as a singer. I don't know, people just have different opinions, deal with it.

This is a good question, seeing how it was a definate implosion (suicide) caused by a change in the musical landscape (murder) which led to the exile (fade away)...

I find the whole turn of events fascinating so I suppose the way it all played out is fine with me..

For sure, it was all downhill from there.

Add a few outside factors along the way and here we are in 2005, still interested...

Sadly intrigued.

The lineup that recorded UYI had a slow and natural death that began during the UYI tour. A lot of things happened to lead to the end of the band.

I think 'suicide', 'murder' and 'fade away' are words than can all be used to describe the break up of every single band that broke up in history.

The interesting (and sad as well) thing with GN'R is that they broke up too early. At their best glory, peak. In my opinion, the seattle stage wasn't really a descline factor. We may didn't have a real album to ensure if the world still supports them but the live demands and the attendance of the people in the latest Illusion tours proved that Guns N' Roses was the ultimate rock n' roll band during 1992-93.

New Rose is right. They burned out way too soon. I didnt ever want to see them living on past glories like AC/DC do, but i think they had a couple of albums left in them.

I'd rather have my favorite band play on for years then never see them do anything again.  Who cares if they become a nostalgia act?  So are the Rolling Stones and Aerosmith.  Do you not want them around anymore?  Who's to say they would become irrelevant.  GN'R with Axl, Slash, Izzy, and Duff would never be irrelevant to me.  Nothing they can do will ever have the impact Appettite did, but that doesn't mean they still can't make their mark.  Motley Crue has made a mark on the music industry this year.  They've made it cool to be rock stars again.  They've made rock music cool again.  If GN'R would come back they'd have a similar impact, except it would be far bigger than even the Crue.

I think we're more likely to see Rick James and Ray Charles rise up from their graves and do a concert at Carnegie Hall together.  peace
