... an 1 hour and a half set?

I think they can?t do what they?ve done at RIR3 all the time... just imagining that 18 ( problably ) will be on CD, they?ll play like, 10/12 new songs... and then some classics...

normaly the bands play like 15 / 18 songs, right?
so, that will piss most of the "old GNR fans"? just the fact that only Axl is in the band, some "hardcore" fans won?t acept the new band, just imagine the band playing just 4 or 5 old hits...

btw, I?m listening to Nightrain from boston 2002
man, this band it?s incredible!

i'm guessing a 2 hour - 2.5 hour set.. depends on how long they have been touring and if he can sing well for the whole show...

I think a 45 minute set should properly warm up the crowd for VR's stadium tour next summer. Maybe Slash will throw botaxl a bone & give him an hour since they go way back.

U2 currently do about 22-24 songs a night, granted, they have a MUCH larger library than GNR. But that's with 2 opening bands, as well. I'd expect GNR to do about 18-20 songs, with about 10 new ones, with maybe a few alternates here and there. They did 20 songs at Rio, with about 5 solos/jams. They might could after a while, but I doubt they'll start doing a "Rio" every night...

I expect them to do almost all of the songs off CD, if not all. ANd then sprinkle some oldies in

I'd prefer to get something completely unexpected every night.  I remember people doing their "wishlists" for the tours and a popular one was "all of CD and Jungle, SCOM, PC, and NR"... I hope they learn the illusion tunes, some covers, and get as random as possible every night!

The key to a great tour is obscurity and complete randomness. Throw in "Locomotive" one night, do "It's Alright" before "November Rain" one night, close with "Coma" one night, etc. The only problem is that GNR's library is relatively small compared to other bands, but that's where covers come in...

I expect them to play 10 songs from the new album and around 10 from the old ones.

Possibly 7 from AFD (Jungle, Easy, Brownstone, Nightrain, PC, SCOM, RQ), 3 from UYI (YCBM, NR, LALD) and Patience.

I agree with Younggunner..I would want to hear mostly new songs from CD with old songs here and there throughout.

I think that opening the shows with WTTJ and closing them with Paradise City is just perfect and always will. But I was thinking to myself yesterday , will Democracy have two songs that could replace WTTJ and PC as the opener and closer songs of the set?!

That's a great question.   I don't know, they are the most perfect songs to open and close with.   With what we have heard, I haven't heard an opener or close song that would be as great.   Who know's he just may keep that as a sort of tradition with GNR..  Maybe when we hear the album we can discuss this again.  Excellent question Saul. ok

If the new material is as good as we have been left to believe, 95% of the set should be new stuff.

Yeah, as Axl is allegedly the ballsiest guy Tommy has ever met...The set of 100% new songs is the best. but I don't mind that with  5~10% of oldies.

Even if they do make better songs nothing we'll ever change that AfD is a classic, so people will always prefer it and the songs from it. I believe that applies here too.

And not playing any old songs, are you people kidding me? Do you think a stadium with 60,000 people will simply not want to hear the classics?

Some folks crack me up.  I hate to tell ya, but WTTJ, Night Train, Paradise City, Sweet Child O' Mine, and You Could be Mine, possibly Patience and November Rain would still be played.  In a set-list of 20 songs, that's 25 to 35% of the set-list right there.  Plus, if CD has 12-14 tracks as rumored, do you really think they'll play every song off of the new cd?  I don't either.

I would be pleasantly surprised if GNR tours again.  As time goes on the odds get smaller and smaller.

I'll agree that 'Jungle' and 'Paradise City' will ALWAYS be the perfect open/closer combo, but it'd be nice for a change here and there. 'Chinese Democracy' would actually be a pretty cool opener with the right build-up...
