Here Today... Gone Tomorrow

« on: July 18, 2005, 03:15:18 AM »

assuming that these two will be the resident guitar players for guns n' roses in the future as well, which one is the best skilled? i know it is hard to tell with no new material released yet but for those who have experienced gn'r live in 2002 and/or know what these players are capable of, which one is the best suited to fill slash' shoes? and before people flame me for mentioning replacing slash, i think that's part of axl wants to do, at least judging from his comments at the 2002 VMA's. i also get the feeling that he wants to replace izzy, judging from his comments that richard both "has a izzy kind of vibe to him", and that after having had richard audition for the new band, they were at the airport and some fan thought he was izzy, which axl took as a good omen and hired him.

I would venture a guess to say that Robin has more his own sound while Richard is more an all round session player who can perhaps fill in where needed anywhere.
They are both unknown quantitys to a degree

Robin has a more unique style, while Fortus is more of a classic rocker, but I've yet to hear Fortus butcher a solo like Robin has, and his tone and sound are great. So I'd have to go with Richard Fortus.

Exactly, not much creative experience on either end..

I like Finck's stage presence, look and style much better than Fortus', I enjoy Robin's loosey-goosey interpretation of the old material.

On the other hand, Richard's stage shennanigens just irritate me, looks like he's just trying to damn hard to get noticed...

why was this thread moved here? it's not a question that keeps popping up and it's certainly not dead horse. pandora you hold personal grudges and are on a power-trip, you should be banned and de-mod'ed as soon as possible.

I agree, but Robin's lead playing piss me off. Terrible. Axl should hire a lead guitarist since the band doesn't have a quality player for that position.
