I just flat out don't understand his explanation of OMG. But whatever, it is a good song and I like it. I like to think it is about the old band.
It does raise the question that if Matt Sorum is a "former employee" than I guess Robin, Tommy, Richard and Brain are "current employees."

OMG is most likely my favourite GNR song, and an album like that would have been so cool - but i'dimagine Axl's lost confidence in his own plan and tried something new.
OMG shows that industrial music can be good (though looking at other bands that try it u wouldn't think so...)

Izzy, interesting post. You are the first person I've ever seen to say 'Oh My God' is their favorite song. I do not like the song, but I agree with you about wanting to hear Axl's 'Industrial Techno' album. It would have been interesting to see what he could have done with that genre of music. There had to be at least a couple of songs better than Oh My God. But, considering that he never released it, and never will, it must have not been very good. Maybe Oh My God was the 'Big Gun' of that material. I'm hoping that we get alot of that material if GNR ever does a rarities box set.

Axl always said oh my god was a demo. It was never finished to his liking
but the label needed it for the movie.
I dont see how Axls quote contrdicts anything.
Dave that's kind of silly. The labe didn't get anything Axl didn't want to give. I agree with you that I don't think OMG was finished, but I do think Axl expected people to get more excited about it. That's why it got released.
By the way, one of the things I've probably said most since I've been on this board, the best part of OMG is the band. The weakest part is Axl. That riff is monster. The lyrics are so-so, but the vocals themselves add nothing and actually cover up the music, which is the strength. I wouldn't be surprised if the chilly reception OMG got was one of the reasons Axl's waited so long and been so cautious with the album.
Like I said Axl said the song was not finished, and I think he meant the vocals since the vocals seem to just be tacked on. The mix of the lyrics and music always sounded off. Also the lyrics are better than so so, they are great.

Before all my posts about subjective matters there should be an IMO before the post. I took this sig down but of course it has to go back up.

I've never known which guitarist plays this or that solo, but one of the solo's is out of key. That's what disturbs me the most in this song. It's an ok song in GN'R terms and a good song if we see what's released by other bands, but that out-of-key part was scary.

Not sure which part you to refer to?
navarros little solo is very much a Navarro trademark in that he plays in the mixolodian scale and plays alot of octaves and intervals, very atmospheric and dark sounding
