I can never understand why people bring up a thread that hasn't been posted in for a month just to say "I really hate these guys, bah rah indie dressing fags"  , on the subject of this band, superb act!  Really good new album, dips a bit in the middle, but worth grabbing for the first 4 tracks alone.

Agreed, the first four tracks are brilliant, then as you say it dips in the middle but the last couple of tracks are excellent as well.

Me, I don't think it can compare to "Because of the Times."  As you say, the first 4 tracks all stand out, but after that, too much mid-tempo blandness.  Just my opinion, of course.

I think the newest record is definitely one of the best albums of 2008, absolutely fantastic.

I just got this on iTunes - outstanding record.  A little 90s U2 sounding, but still very, very good.

Listen to 2007's "Because of the Times" first because "Only by the Night" is sort of a continuation of the style. The first two albums are slightly more lo-fi sounding but still worth checking out.

That new album so positively received by critics bored me shitless. Nothing interesting going on with the instruments. Other than the two singles, the songs are not memorable. Infact alot of it is quite slow and depressing.

I'd definately say Because of the Times is the way to go, track for track greatness, whereas for me the latest effort is very good, but as previously mentioned suffers from a dodgy middle.

Come off it. Your frankly useless posts about KoL are pretty well documented, and the fact you criticize them for their appearance when you are an avid hair metal follower makes your opinion null and void.

I respect certain bands images. I dont respect bands like Tigertailz or Poisons images. Who wants to watch bands that have guys in that look like they have come out of university. I aint paying to see people i see daily. I want entertainment thanks, not shoegazing crap. Kings Of Leon should of stuck to the image they had in the on call video. That was cool.

Id put any glam band up against Kings of Leon.  Kings of Leon are bland, boring and able to make a person go to sleep. They are as much as a rock band now as the Jonas Brothers are.

KOL in their early days, while i didnt like it, were much more a rock band then the indie drivel they are now.

Ive listened to their material, so i have a right to give my opinion on this shit and over-rated band.

I've always thought that a band's strength comes from their songs, and not relying on gimmicks to draw fans. Kings of Leon are essentially a band who get on stage and play, nothing else. I think you are confusing their image with the quality of their music. I don't see anything particularly "indie fag" about the way they dress.

If anything they have moved to even more of a arena rock band sound, from their lo-fi garage rock days. Giving them the indie tag is very lazy.

And yes, you are entitled to your opinion, no matter how poorly put across it is

you defended their image, and then made a remark saying my opinions were invalid due to my liking of a movement with specific image characteristics. That is why i chose to press on that area more.

I have spoke of their music. Like i said, it is bland. I cant remember any of the songs off that album other than the singles. Its very laidback, with nothing interesting going on. 

Take a listen to...hmm. Lets say U2 Achtung Baby, thats laid back. But its kept interesting and has memorable chorus;s.

Kings of Leon are laid back with no substance.  I respect bands that are able to go onstage n play, but only ones that do it good. Like Airbourne. They go onstage n their performance is amazing. With kings of leon its a bunch of tired lookin guys mopin around for 2 hours.

A Whole album of no bullshit rock n roll with alot of energy.

Something i find lacks with all these indie band.  They are toned down. Tame. Thats why its "indie rock" , not related to the rock n roll genre. But, as youve twisted the words. I was speaking about performance there. My musical analysis was in the part talking about U2's album which you chose to miss clearly because its correct. 

I respect the 90s bands, Oasis, The Verve. Guys with talent and good songs. (especially in the case of Oasis). At least they had some kick in their music, and you can remember at LEAST one chorus.
