thats cool its sold 6 million worldwide,? whats this about bands having to pay RIAA to certify? That sounds fucked

it sounds fucked up but its a business, they certify you and then your worth more in the market i suppose.

Just wondering ... for everyone who reads this thread /// do you own the greatest hits cd?

yes or no?? Yes for me!? ok

I also own it, but only because I'm a die-hard collector. Otherwise I wouldn't have bought it.

ya im kinda the same way. the only reason i bought it is cuz i wanted SFTD on a GN'R album  Grin

Yeah, I bought it basically to complete the collection and to have SFTD on an album.  I really don't listen to it that much, but I do appreciate how many new GN'R fans its made.  If only there were some rare stuff on it.

I haven't bought it - though i might eventually just to have Sympathy for the devil in a more accesible location (though i have the original single Cheesy)

Edited songs and remastered tracks not endorsed by the band - not good

I didn't buy it either, I also have the original SFTD CD single. I remeber walking into the store and seeing it and I was like. "WOW, I didn't realize they had a new song."  I love their version I think it rocks ok I had never heard the original before and to this day I think the GnR version is better.

I can't believe how much the GH has sold. it's unprecidented. Even though Axl, Slash and Duff didn't want it released, it managed to peak interest for VR and GnR. Axl better use that interest to his advantage and releae CD soon!!! yes

Personally I think the track listing on GH sucks, half the tracks are cover songs!!! Is that what GnR is going to be known/remebered for to the casual observer?  I sure hope not!!!! rant

It was the first GNR cd I bought.  Then I bought AFD and was like "Holy Shit, this is better than the GH!!!
And about the covers, I think alot of GNR's covers are better than the originals ( KOHD, Mama Kin, etc. ).  Oh, and is" Ain't it Fun"  the only song edited on the GH?  It's the only one I noticed...

With the dvds and the greatest hits the record label should now be in the black and out from under Axl's 12 million or so recording debt.

GN'R has been selling a lot of records/DVD's for 1 or 2 years.
Hope "Chinese Democracy" will be the summum (musically and commercially) of GN'R 2k. the potencial is here. The demand is here.

GN'R have enjoyed a renaissance of sorts in recent times - the big question will be if the name Guns N' Roses is as potent as a commodity without such key trademarks  ie.the original members figuring in the equation?
