A Pasadena court commissioner Tuesday dismissed a drug case against Scott Weiland, the former lead singer of Stone Temple Pilots and current frontman for Velvet Revolver, because he has completed a rehab program under Proposition 36.

The 37-year-old rocker, who was charged in May 2003 with possessing heroin and cocaine, faced up to three years in prison, Deputy Dist. Atty. John Harrold said. But the voter-passed law permits petty drug offenders such as Weiland to undergo treatment instead of jail.

Congratulations to Scott.  I think he'll keep clean knowing how heroin can destroy his family and his promising future in VR.  I can't wait for VRs new album and this only furthers my belief that Slash and Co. have a good thing going for the long run.
