Nothing GnR Old or New has ever done has come easy or without issues.  Axl in my mind has always wanted this group to always be evolving look at AFD to the Illusions albums quite a growth in terms of music and now in this day and age of music Axl is makign a big leap from what the music was like back in the 90's to what it is now with ur nu-metal stuff and rap music granted im still stuck in the 80s when rock was at its peak but none the less.  Its the unknown that drives us to love this band and when something does happen have we ever been disappointed.  Something is gonna happen and when it does we will all be very happy with the wait i have no doubts about that.

Its the unknown that drives us to love this band

yeah, GN'R history shows that we should expect the unexpected!

when has it ever been predictable... when has it ever been consistent?

when has it ever been without 'issues'?

GN'R is an anomaly among 2 - 3 decades of music and generations of fans

And that's the way we like it.  I do, thats for sure.

Just like my high school principal called me Axl is an enigma you cant figure him out so why bother trying too and lets just take whatever we are given.

If there was any prospect of the album being released you might have a point.  The way things are at the moment we've got nothing.

Get In The Ring!

« Reply #7 on: July 10, 2005, 05:40:52 PM »

I have to admit that im stuck in the 80s aswel, but if its taking axl so long to release the abum cus he's tryin to change it to suit the music thats out at the time im not sure that i will like it, but then again i dont know wats gonna be on the album, wether itl be modern or classic stuff like in the 80s ill jus have to wait(some more) to see.

If,like i said, he is changin it to keep up with the times, ther'll never be a gud time to release it, an i doubt it will get the praise he's hopin for if he has changd the sound/style to sumthing more modern.
thats jus my opinion so dont hate me!

Yip, he needs to bite the bullet and release an album non-specific to a time, trend or genre
That is what timeless albums are made of

I dont mean to say that he will put out stuff that is similar to whats out now i was just saying that he likes to evolve i believe and always come out with something different and i believe thats the case now i think whatever we see from these sessions and albums will be something different then we've heard before similar to what the illusions albums did.

Its funny how some people keep wishing for the "old gunners" back. ITS NOT GONNA HAPPEN! Even if AFD era GNR came back and did an album, it would not be like AFD. I wish people could understand this. Its not sex, drugs, and rock n roll anymore. Its fucked up minds, broken relationships, and extreme paranoia. CD is gonna be a mature record, dealing with mature themes. I think this is what Axl meant when he said CD would be a "big surprise".

I think the fewer earthshattering expectations for this album the better. I doubt anyone in the industry believes Rose can return this band to its original glory; he can on the otherhand make an entertaining album that sells very well and gives the old fans a reason to buy a G&R product again.

We definitely know it's not going to be like the old days and truly I wouldn't expect it to be.  Axl is all about evolving and so far from what I have heard he had done it once again.

Sorry Gunna Girl, you're going to be very disappointed with the new album.  Sound wise it will be light years beyond AFD.

I hear that.  I'm all for trying to expand your horizons every now and then, but if you're in a rock n' roll band...keep it a rock n' roll band.  I have no problem trying to incorproate different things into the music.  Axl did that very well with the Illusions.  But when you start getting into the techno/industrial stuff it ceases to be rock n' roll.  After the arguably over-produced Illusion albums, Axl and the guys needed to go ahead and release another raw rock album in the Appettite vain.

The problem is as we all know the era of music is always changing in the 80s it was rock music that was the popular style then the 90s came and it was alternative music like nirvana, pearl jam etc. and now its groups like system of a down, audioslave and so on i actually happen to like those groups but thats not the point.  My point being that i think this album will be what AFD was back in the 80s adn will surprise us i mean i know we have heard a few songs but i honestly believe that when this album and any subsequent other albums come out from these sessions we will be very surprised and not have expected what we get.

Thats what intrigues ppl about rockstars so much, the element of mystery that they carry. Once u lose that its over, I think thats partially the reason why Axl is so reclusive. It worked for Maynard and the other members of Tool. And It'll work for Axl when Chinese Democracy drops on us like a fuckin' anvil.  peace

In response to twisteds last message i believe Maynard probably got that from Axl, Axl was a recluse way before Tool was even around.  But i agree it definitly adds to the persona and aura of an Axl rose type i mean lets say velvet revolver wasnt around would we care as much about what was going on with them if they werent doing anything i dont think so but thats just in my opinion.
