Serious question, the present/ the future

Religion is used to commit crimes all over the world.


It's been a long long LONG time now.


Do you think there would be less crimes in the name of, if religion was purely and simply forbidden from being seen, spoken about ?

If people didn't wear religious symbols, if there were no public preaching and praying places, if people were not allowed to publicize religions, none, do you think things could calm down ?

Faith is a necessity, i do believe, my own beliefs.  I do not go to temples, i do wear signs about my beliefs or not visible ones.

If all religions were made illegal unless practised at HOME, in private, don't you think there would be less hate or at least, one less reason to hate ?

And one less subject used as an excuse to massacre people ?

I know it may seem a bit extreme, but don't you think killing people because they killed your people is just AS extreme, if not completely extreme ?

You can change laws, you cannot come back from the dead.

When I was in the military there was a policy that religion was not allowed to be discussed in the work place because it stirred up too many tempers. People still found something to argue about and start fights.
I understand what you are trying to say though. The religion itself isnt the problem, or the symbols of the religions either. The problem is the simple minded ones amongst the flock that are going to start the inevitable "My God is better than your God" dispute.
You are correct though, more people have died and more wars have been fought over religion than anything else. If similar results stemmed from anything else, say a sport for example, that sport would be banned.

i see what your saying jessica, but in all honestly, i think a religious ban would stir up more violence. think fo it this way: you a die hard catholic or muslium or hindu or buhdish or w/e, a preist, you wake up one moring to find out that your no longer to worship the one thing in you life that you swore to value and worship forever. may religious groups would had civil unrest and would begin to settle this violently. the main thing in catholism is that it is encouraged to go to church and participate with other catholic in practcing your belifs. true, some religions dont get allong, but its much more of a political influence than a religious one.

Religion has their strentgh and weakness

It helps people feel better and confident about themselves.

But when they disagree with each other over their beliefs it causes hatred and controversy

I hate that feeling when you offend someone's beliefs without knowing it they get so sensitive and pissed off. I'm glad religion exists so we kind of have a sense of how us and the world was created. But the reason I'm mad religion exists is because people can do something bad and not have anyone tell them their wrong but you're the only one that knows it. Plus I hate how people shove down their throats about stuff they can't do when they turn around and do it. To me, in a way religion is a mind game being played on followers by hypocrites, sometimes. At least they raise money to help the needy and poor famlies, there's good in that part. If you love your religion so much but you still do bad things, then don't shove it down your children's throat.

What? Peace? I'm sure it's God wants peace and not Satan. Unlike what fundamentalists believe, God wants us to wipe out every other religion. Surely if God invented and loves us all, he doesn't want Christians killing Muslims, Muslims killing Christians etc. I think it's actually what Satan wants is what's happening now.

Any opression done under 'religous' motive is done through religion merely as an excuse. Therefore, any uprising (in your given example, terrorism) is hitting back with, likewise, religious motives.

If it wasn't religion, then it would be something along the lines of World Order that would be the cover. And the terrorism would be the rebellion.

Religion is not this all conquering, evil mass that is what has lead these people to commit these crimes. It is merely of surface value, that they would commit these crimes in the name of their 'God'. Their true beliefs come from the self. A principle that I guess you would be familiar with.

A total ban on public religious activity doesn't even really work in theory, let alone in practice.

And even more so to the point, if you can state the difference between private and public worship, then I will take what you said into a little more consideration.?

I don't believe in satan, it's a recent invention in the history of faith.

I'll still believe in what's good and beautiful, but i dot need religion for this.

So even for people who do believe in satan, faith is not menaced, it's political leader of religions who are.

Let's say i am asking people " what if you had no more political parties".
