In the Thank you's in cKy's An Answer Can Be Found "Axl Rose" is one of the names.

Other notables are Dave Ellefson and "James Hetfield and Metallica"

Just a small mention but felt it was worth posting

certainly, the guys from cKy mentioned in the past he was a nice guy to them when on tour

rollingstone.com

"We got to play Madison Square Garden with Guns n' Roses," says guitarist Chad Ginsberg. "That's cool as shit! Axl gave us a great opportunity. He was really into us."

CKY even had a chance to bond with the reclusive singer. "We went to a strip club in Toronto with Axl," Ginsberg remembers. "This girl danced to 'November Rain,' and Axl just put his head down in embarrassment."

Nice gesture from the band but what a horrible choice of an opening band for your big comeback tour.  They must have drwn at least 5 new fans to each show!

Ol' Axl really gave us the double whammy of shit openers.   MMM probably brought 2 new fans a show.  What were they thinking?

Was mixmastermike Axl's idea?  I don't understand why he was there.  His set went on forever.  And lucky me I got to see him headline cause I was at the fuckin' Philly show.  That whole night seems so unreal to me.  Fuck CKY.  They told the crowd Axl was ready to go.  If I ever meet one of those guys I'm gonna open the biggest can of whoop ass anyone has ever opened.

For some reason I'm reading this radio interview of 02 right now. Here Axl answers your query. Wink

Ditch: Absolutely, lets talk about the opening band, bands. Tonight you've got, uhh, the mix master from the Bestie Boys with you, is that right?

Axl: Ah, Mix Master Mike. He's done some work with them and he's actually done some work with Brain and Bucket on.. You know, in the past, but ahh.

Separate from Brain and Bucket having worked with him, Tommy, was the person that, that turned me on to Mix Master Mike by having me go see a, a scratch show. Umm, when they had this movie out Scratch, and go to a performance of that. And Robin and I went with Tommy down to watch that and it was really exciting to watch. And he just, he just moved the people in a cool way. And it was cool that Tommy and Robin really liked it so much, and then, by this guy, they didn't know that this guy already had a relationship with Bucket and Brain. So it just kinda seems natural because of their enthusiam and then the other guys already knowing him and being excited about it.

And then we're also playing with CKY, which is, you know, kind of a thing people are into right now. And, and they have a really interesting attitude so. It should be fun!

Ditch: Absolutely, looking really forward to it man.

Axl: We wanna, we wanna get people a, a full show, I mean of a few different things to see.

That interview with Axl shows just how out of touch he is at this point.  CKY is a band that people are in to right now?  Who?  A handfull of skater kids somewhere?

perhaps you should'nt make assumptions like that based on what little you know. cKy currently have one of the more decicated fanbase due to the excellent relationship they have with fans. They have an "Ask cKy" feature on their site in which they answer fan question which is updated every day and always make the effort to meet fans after and before shows. Last count showed their offical message board had 10,000 members

What little I know?  You just backed up my statements.  55k is not that impressive and most of them are just there because Bam said so.  They'll get there asses bounced from their label if they only sell 55k albums.

sorry i mixed up my figure i meant 10,000

For the little label promotion cky have been given to sell the amount of copies of Infiltrate Destroy Rebuild they have is pretty impressive.

Similarly word of mouth is mainly what has lead to An Answer Can Be Found reaching #35 on the billboard chart

As for your Bam comment i would suggest the quality of music is what keeps the fans there as i cannot argue most of their mentions on tv is through Viva La Bam and 96 Quite Bitter Beings being heard on Jackass

It's always about quantity of sales on this board. I personally didn't like cKy but I have heard that they have a pretty stable fan base, metallica didn't really have high sales at first either but they turned out to be a power hitter (although CkY is far from the talent of metallica IMO) same with Pantera (aside from Far Beyond Driven they had very little commercial exposure, but had a very good fanbase, again though I don't think CKY is nearly as talented as Pantera)

You hardly see much from Weezer too but they seem to have a good following (I hate weezer, btw, they stink)

It's not always about how many fans you have but how those fans you have react to you

Yes, considering the free nightly advertising cky has had on Bam's lame ass MTV show for what seems like forever now, it's means they suck if there not a bigger deal. Luckily, i was smart enough to skip their set. Unfortunately, MMM seemed to be full of energy & went on for fucking ever! Talk about taking the piss out of an already small crowd. Someone needed to tell botaxl scratching was cool in like 1986. Seriously, MMM was scratching the same Zepplin tunes that were on License To Ill hihi.
