yeah I love Do it for the kids but its not a very good opener. its the perfect 2nd song after STB. They should've opened with STB or even dirty lil thing. They thought do it for the kids fit right into live 8 but definitely not musically as an opener lol

I'm glad they didn't play Dirty Little Thing.

Probably because I prefer the tracks they played to that one.  Grin

It seemed like people had no idea about who VR were, but many of them recognized Slash.

Wonder how many of the older people there thought, "Isn't he in that Guns band that was big back when I was young?"....  hihi

I saw them perform FTP and Slither. I don`t feel they did their best performance of FTP. They were just all over the place, especially Scott.  Slither on the other hand was great. All in all I would give them 8 out of 10 points.

I was in the crowd and me and the Mrs seemed to be the only ones who got the message, There were many people around us who seemed bemused and unsure of what to make of VR, Slash was def on top of his game and people knew who he was, but VR didnt recieve the same reception as other acts.

The sound was also not as loud as you would expect from an open air gig, thanks to westminster councils noise restriction!

all in all a very sound performance, but was now where near as effective as they were at Brixton or hammersmith, but i guess thats the problem with stadium/open air gigs.

Also people around us were typical of the music buying public, dancing to Robbie Williams and more pop backed groups.

A good day at the office from a fan of the VR boys.

I guess I don't have to feel bad about missing it then.

Not really, only up until then Elton John had been brilliant, then he had to bring a junkie on stage who was quite pitiful. Couldn't sing, didn't really know what he was doing, a bloody disgrace. I hope he disappears up his own arse now. peace

Couldn't agree more.

dont forget the audience had been standing for over 5 hours.. ok
They'd been standing for around 10 when the who came on and went ape shit.

Bad. Performance.
Nice to see so much loyalty but when the coolest thing was the sun reflecting on his sunglasses you really are clutching at straws.

The only rock and roll thing left in VR is Slash's hat. Tongue

Yeah, i can't imagine why a British crowd would be going nutz for The Who & be a little more reseved for some new band they might only know 1 or 2 songs of. Yeah, VR must just suck & not know anything about rock n' roll.  confused

we'll have to agree to disagree but the crowd went nuts for the other rock acts on the bill and not VR.
I dont think they have the songs.. It's like Snakepit.
Lazy songwriting...
Bus conductors outfit didnt help either (oi hate you Butler)

Velvet Revolver are at the moment not very commercial and also they are a relativly new band they dont get a lot of airplay the crowd went nuts for the other songs because they were all classics or heavily rotated on MTV. The performance they put in was 110% if that had been a Proper rock concert the crowd would have gone nuts

still not convinced look at the variety of acts and styles on show at LIVE 8 the crowd went mad for snoop which isnt exactly easy listening... VR fell on their arse

VR were brilliant in my opinion. However the crowd were not a mainly rock audience. That showed when the presenters on the BBC went out and were talking to people in the audience most of which were looking forward to seeing Madonna and Robbie Williams. Even after the show Jonathan Ross (presenting for the BBC) said he enjoyed Velvet Revolver's performance, it was just that they were relatively unknown amongst the audience so didn't get the best reception.
