Great set but as Jonathan Ross said afterwards nobody seemed to really know the songs they got one of the poorest reactions the crowd did not seem that into it.

damn, it was cool... but i didnt understand all the words that Slash said, any of you understood it?

He commented on the evening.....

VR were great. Good selection of songs.? Cheesy

/jarmo

Jarmo, that is the nicest thing you have ever said about VR!? I am still waiting to see video!? I am glad they put on such a great show!!

OH MY FOCKING GOD, I JUST SAW THE REPLAY ON AOL.? THAT WAS THE MOST OUTSTANDING VERSION OF SLITHER I HAVE EVER HEARD.? THIS COULD BE THE GREATEST VR MOMENT EVER.? I saw lots of people really into them.? As many times as I have seen them, my jaw was dropped seeing this band, and seeing the potential of this band.? The camera men did an excellent job of getting everyone, including Dave.? Great moment for VR.? I really hope they are around for a while.? Scott was great!? Way to go guys.

The Sunday Times gave VR 8 out of 10 for their performance. beer

This is a better score than Madonna and The Who, the same score as they gave U2, and only Robbie Williams and Pink Floyd scored higher. peace

V R Were fucking amazing i think that was a stand out performance only bettered by Pink Floyd i had goose bumps watching them when else will you see V R on BBC1 performing Live at a prime Time of 9.00pm i think they may have gained some fans from that performance and although it would of been wrong to do so if they had included a GNR Classic they would have a lot more fans im going to keep watching it over and over again. I watched it again this morning and man it get's better each time i watch it. Fantastic.

Actually reminds me of the kind of thing The Who would have done back in the day, blow their heads off, leave half of them baffled and the other half in awe lol Fucking rocked!  I was only expecting 1 song from them, now i wish i had gone.

And for every good review there's a bad one. ?For people in the UK goto Ceefax on BBC1 page 505 and you'll see they got 6/10 the only people who got lower scores were Mariah Carey & Pete Doherty.

dont forget the audience had been standing for over 5 hours.. ok
It did not stop them finding energy for the acts following such as Robbie Williams, it was nothing to do with them being tired.

I thought it was okay, I didn't the Do it For the Kids was such a great choice for opening with.

And Set Me Free with it's live duel solos would have been a much better choice for ending their set.

Did anyone see the sunset reflecting in Scott's glasses at the end? That was pretty snazzy.

yeah I love Do it for the kids but its not a very good opener. its the perfect 2nd song after STB. They should've opened with STB or even dirty lil thing. They thought do it for the kids fit right into live 8 but definitely not musically as an opener lol

Great set but as Jonathan Ross said afterwards nobody seemed to really know the songs they got one of the poorest reactions the crowd did not seem that into it.

I was there and they got one of the smallest reactions when mentioned "and now... it doesn't get any better than this"... said the introducer... "...VELVET REVOLVER!!"... you could hear the crowd cheer etc, but less for the knowledge of who they were than for the fact that it was a gig and people do clap at gigs.  Anyway... funny thing is... as soon as Slash was viewed on the monitor, there was a MASSIVE cheer!  Obvioulsy they then realised "shit... that's fuckin' Slash!"

Fact is, most people didn't know the band that well because this was an audience of mostly pop fans and older people who wouldn't know hard modern rock from jazz.  I sang along to every line and bounced up and down and went mental.  For a hard rock fan, VR blew every single other act off of the stage.  No doubt about that.  Being there was amazing, hearing Slash blast his guitars out.  And how mental did I go when Scott started the line... "Went so fast I'm out of luck...."  I was in hogs heaven!!!!!

Me and my bro came away happy guys! Cheesy
