Well, I'm trying to learn to play Estranged on my guitar, but I can't figure out how Slash gets that awesome sound on the lead parts in that song. I mean, it's not like his normal tone in, say, Sweet Child o' Mine.... it sounds like the guitar is screaming, almost.

My amp is a Peavey Classic, and I've got an Epi Les Paul Standard with a Dimarzio Air Norton in the neck and Seymour Duncan JB in bridge (but I'm guessing I don't want to use that one).

I know the basics of his sound, boost the mids, and a lot of bass with the tone rolled off a little bit, but I'm just not sure how to get that crazy sound.

Any suggestions would be really appreciated.

I'm sure he cranked this bajeezus out of his amp when it was recorded. It sounds like its on the brink of feeding back. So turn the Master Volume of your tube amp up.

Ah crap, that was predictable.

Looks like I'm going to need to invest in a power attenuator.  Angry
