2Na's Quick Caption Review - "Piece Of Shit"

Anyone thinking of buying this dvd shouldn't bother - i found a copy by chance in my local HMV today and its shit. Just a bunch of nobody's that sorta know a little about the band, but i bet there are 30 people on this board alone that could make up a better gn'r biography on the spot. And since it's unofficial there is no gn'r music. There is only like 3 minutes of interviews with band members, and then it's only Slash, Duff and Izzy speaking about nothing. They mentioned that the new guns were doing some shows, and not much else, although did seem positive about them.

So to conclude, save ur money.

I can't believe you just said that

I read a somewhat similar review to this somewhere! I think it was another GNR forum...

I guess if you're as hardcore as most people in here, then you pretty much know EVERYTHING (well, almost) there is to know about the band, rendering such a DVD useless.

Just thought I'd say all that, cheers [smoking]

Very few people that know anything whatsoever about the band would learn anything from this. Its just a cheap way of getting money from guns fans who've been starved of official releases.

I just got my copy off ebay yesterday and watched it last night. Although its nothing great, it isn't as bad as some people were leading on. If any of you have that Maximum Guns N' Roses CD you could say that this is almost a DVD of that CD. Its made by the same company and even has some of the same backround music and I believe the same narrator. It does feature some pics I've never seen before, but the problem is all they can show is pics, no live video footage. It mainly consists of the narrator giving the story from beginning to end and interviews with people in L.A. that had close ties to the band or just knew a lot about music, especially GN'R. There were a couple of good stories that I'd never heard before. One was when they were opening for the Stones at the L.A. Coliseum Axl did a full lap around the track singing the whole time and never losing a breath. Another was in Long Beach Axl's limo driver got a ticket and Axl refused to start the show until the city of Long Beach tore up the ticket and eventually they got a hold of the mayor who finally did. It was nothing great, but I would recommend it to most GN'R fans that like these kinds of documentaries.

Reading what the back says (I saw it on ebay, I think it's the back cover), just saying how they've still managed after all these years to maintain an enourmous army of dedicated fans.  I'm just wondering how many people are like us that just haven't gotten to these message boards.  It also made me think that this new album will be an incredible seller.  What do all of you think?  [peace]

Most people I know say they hate GnR and the new "cover band".

But I believe that it will sell at least 500,000 copies in the first week.

I think that the talent and power of the album will turn this into more than just hype.  Hopefully it will be an album for the ages like appetite  [smoking]

 [rofl]

Well alot of people are anxious to hear Axl and the new band....like my friend Axl told me they will probably do an MTV Movie Awards performance most likely for the T3 soundtrack to debut the song and then release the album....thats my guess.

I just hope that album sells over 5 million. Anything short of that will be an embarrasment.

"Most" people don't know shit about Guns and Roses.  When i had tickets to the Philly show i heard the same thing over and over from friends, coworkers, classmates etc. "They're just not the same without Slash. they suck without Slash".  i would then ask them to name one other member besides Slash/Axl and not one of them could do it.  But what do i know, they're the experts on the new GNR without Slash Roll Eyes

Prepared to be embarrased dude.

5 million for someone who hasn't done anything in 10 years and continues to disappoint his loyal fans?

No chance.

If this album sells more than 100,000 in the first week, I'd be shocked.  No way in hhhhhhhheeeeeeeeeeeeellllllllll this sells 500 gr in first week.  Like someone mentioned earlier not much of a market for Axl anymore.  He just hasn't done anything to keep the masses working hand over fist to get his material.  This isn' t 1991.

I think the only people in recent years who've sold over 500 gr in the first week are  em eminem, britney spears, n sync, dave matthews, janet jackson blah blah blah

I don`t believe Axl will expect it to sell shit loads, we have to be realistic. The charts suck, talent doesn`t mean anything - i recon it`ll be a slow burner, us hardcore fans will buy it straight away, and only after all the Pro Slash vibe dies down people will start to think - actually this is pretty dam good!

If the single is good and the album too, then I can't see why it won't sell lots of copies. I'm sure GNR will have many "new" fans when CD comes out.

I expect CD to be really good. As good as AFD (but in a different way) and sell as much as UYI.

The UYI albums sold upwards of 7 million each.

This isn't 1991 anymore.  Aging fanbase, internet, a lack of radio format for a single, all sorts of factors working against it.

Well, it depends on how good the album is.

If all the songs are of the same quality as The Blues and Madagascar, then I would say it will sell 5 million copies easily.

Plus, it's the new "Guns N' Roses" album.

Of course it will sell fucking loads in it's first week.

There are many more people waiting for this album then the few of who made it to the message boards...

they just survive without the rumours.
