Here Today... Fuck The Hell

About the Jackson, according the Guitar One Magazine in 2002 about the AFD anniversery Slash was in the studio and cut all the strings at once to replace them. The neck just tweaked and from that point on it never got in tune again.

Even asking Slash wouldn't get an answer... he's probably forgotten!

And I think that it really doesn't matter.

Slash has an amazing tone on both the Appetite, and on the Illusions... A bit more articulative (spelling??) on the Illusions. But nobody has to copy that. You make your own sound, and you play with that, because it's the sound you've chosen.. not the one you've decided to copy, or emulate.

But then again that's only my opinion... you know... that there's no perfect tone... only the one you've chosen to go with...

I agree... tone is in the ear of the beholder... although to be honest, anyone that thinks Slash's tone on Appetite isn't supreme is a freak, as it's widely regarded as the holy grail of hard rock tone.  I think Slash's tone on Illusions is ace, but his Appetite tone is the best

Nah we cant end the thread like this!

We need more information, so we can find out once and for all what gear he used.

P.S. ozzycat is right, Slash definitely won't remember. From the sound quality of VR's live performnces it's pretty obvious anyway.

As Slash once said, don't try to copy other peoples sound, make your own.
