From what I understand Cena got booed worse than ever in the main event, and he looked somewhat uncomfortable about it.  Was it as bad as I read?  If so, what do you guys think they're gonna do with him?  I think ventually you'd have to turn him heel.  You can't have you top face getting booed out of the building every night.  It just makes you look bad.

Raw was so/so.  I hated the ending to the main event, but at least Cena had some edge to him tonight.  Benjamin losing to Murdoch was a travesty.  I think I heard them mention that Cade and Murdoch broke up.  So much for the rebirth of the tag team division.  It'll be nice to see Bischoff fired, I'm tired of him already.  Shane O'Mac is the man.  He's one McMahon I don't mind seeing on TV.  That Maria Angle thing was pointless.  It was just a cheap way to try to get heat for Angle, and get the crowd behind Cena.  That whole segment didn't make any damn sense.  Why would it matter if Daivari wasn't the ref for a match against Maria?  Some of the shit they've been trying really makes you scratch your head.  On the plus side, the HBK/Carlito match was very good.

Carlito may have lost but he came out looking great in there.

Why the hell would they break up Cade and Murdoch so quickly? Anyone see Cade on Unlimited speaking to Maria? He looks like something out of the 80's.

The Big Show also came out looking good last night.

I definately hope they don't screw us on this GM stipulation. I really want to see a fresh face in Shane as the GM. Even if it is only for a few weeks.

Perhaps their feud was based on homosexual love that wasn't returned?

Lip reading Warrior proves inconclusive at this time.

Wsoctv.com has updated their story regarding Ric Flair's road rage:

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Pro wrestler Ric Flair faces assault charges after a road rage incident on Interstate 485 in Charlotte. Another driver said Flair attacked him and his car.

The driver said he was on I-485 on Wednesday, trying to get out of town for the Thanksgiving holiday and traffic was slow.
The driver said he noticed someone behind him flashing their headlights, so he hit his brakes.

The driver said the car then pulled along side him, police said. The victim said he immediately recognized the driver as Ric Flair.

The driver told police that Flair got out of his car, walked over to the vehicle, grabbed him by the neck and damaged his car.

Police said there are two warrants out for Flair -- simple assault and damage to personal property.

Flair's attorney, Richard Finnell, said Flair is unaware of the warrants. He said Flair is in Michigan this week for a pay-per-view wrestling event.

Finnell said Flair would be back in Charlotte on Tuesday.

Right. A few words from me, because...Well. I'm bored.

With all the evident problems that still blight the WWE, I'd just like to point out two aspects that, I feel, have really improved in the last couple of years...

Err...

Firstly, the entrance music for most of the Roster. Now, around when I stopped watching wrestling, before returning...Around the time of the WCW invasion, or whatever it was. The brand split, around that time...I absoloutly hated the idea of using songs, as in proper songs, as entrance themes. I'd grown up with songs especially written for the wrestler...The great them tunes of Stone Cold, The Rock, Mankind and the Big Show. All genius, both at reflecting their persona as well as being bad ass music. But then what do we start getting? The Undertaker comming in to the tune of the radio played American Bad Ass? 'Eh...What's all this bollocks', thought I. Wasn't liking it at all. As a song? Kid Rock's tune is great. As the Dead Man's (oh, wait...He was an 'American Bad Ass'...Disgusting character) music? And then, even worse...Limp Bizkit, when they had a new song out. I hated it. Never thought it could grow on me.

But man. I was so wrong. There is some fantastic entrance themes around these days. Randy Orton? Edge? Christian, that was? Even Cena's has grown on me. Orton, Edge's and Christians to say the least are superb...Both as songs and as entrance music for the respective guy. Great stuff...

The other thing, is,

When I stopped watching wrestling (am I repeating myself?) the adverts for pay per views*, and consequently the build up that they showed before the matches, were dreadful to say the least. They were edited by idiots that couldn't psyche you up for an event to save their lives. They just used shots from Raw, cut together in a rubbish order, and put in some shit music for good measure. Wham, bam, strawberry Jam...

You see, Montage editing is an art. When it's great, it is fantastic. See: the ending of the Usual Suspects (Granted, that example is audio based but...I watched it last night. First to mind and all that). When it's bad it's just...awful. It looks messy.

Now, I don't know if WWE has hired a completly new set of people to cut and edit these things, or just taught those idots how to do their job properly, but...They're great now. Even though on paper Survivor Series looked very average, the adverts made it look like it was going to be great. Whoever thought of ending it with the rain, the details of how to order and Undertakers music: genius.

They're almost on the way to getting as good as the Michael Cole voiced montages during the attitude era. Two of the best examples are Wrestlemania 14's Undertaker/Kane segmant, and Royal Rumble's Undertaker/Michaels casket match. Oh, and 1998's No Way Out for the 8 man tag.** Now, if they don't get you in the right mood for the match, and psyched as shit, then nothing will.

Now, I know that wrestling is far from being as good as it was...

But.

The smaller things, the things that really mattered to me back then that were so pissed on before, during and after Vince was busy buying out the opposition, actually seem to have improved dramatically.

There is hope yet...

*Also, before I stopped watching...it. Ha. Pay per views? Those poor bastard Americans. Pay? Ha... Sad
** Aye, before all the censorship that was, that event. I have it on video, from back when all wrestling videos, asside from things like King of the Ring 98, were classifed 'E.'? rofl Vader get's his skull crushed in with a wrench (in theory...), and there's as many chair shots and the like in the final match that you can shake a stick at. Now days all Wrestling DVD's are 15 at the very, very least...

One other thing actually, sorry. Is it just me, or do WWE seem to be trying to 'forget' about the whole Attitude era thing? Whenever I browse the DVD's in a store when I'm out of town, that I'm not familiar with, they all seem to have tons of the early 0's dreadful events, as well as a ton of the earlier stuff. No slightly pre-Attiude era, or anything directly from it. Is this just my experience, or are none of those shows being released on DVD? You can get some great 2 in 1's of the early 90's stuff, but seemingly none of the Attitude stuff...It would be great just for the nostalgia alone.

Flair is considered royalty in the Carolinas (trust me, I'm from South Carolina), he will get a slap on the wrist. ?Back in the late 90s in the WCW days, him and Macho Man could be seen in the bars in this area and in Georgia in the VIP rooms doing lines of coke off the table (trust me, I've seen that too). ?Jet flyin, limosine ridin baby. ? WHOOO! rofl I'm sure he's still the same.

EDIT: I'm not good with a computer, but here is his mug shot. http://www.thesmokinggun.com/mugshots/ricflairmug1.html

They're not forgetting, they lost their lawsuit against the WWF (the Wildlife guys) and therefore, releasing the old WWF (wrestling) stuff requires tons of edits, which costs money....and there's some rule in there about the actual footage being shown as well, which I don't recall.

I thought overall, Raw was pretty damn good. First of all, Shane-O-Mac is back!! He is truly the only Mcmahon I give a damn about, because he does have what it takes in the ring, and can pull off awesome angles too no matter who he is paired with. Just the same, as GM i think were in store for some great matches/storylines. Best segment of the night had to be HHH's though. I was smoking a joint watching it and some parts I burst out laughing though, when he got right up in the camera, it was just trippy hihi You have to admit it, for being a slimeball character, HHH pulls off the best damn promos. Does anyone else notice the fucked up forehead lines he gets when hes mad though? Big Show coming out and putting HHH in his place was classice: "Ive been meaning to say this for a long time, Hunter your nothing but a piece of shit!" The  when he tried to get a word in, Show just slapped the mic right out of his hand hihi I wonder if theyll push this as a feud till Ric is back, or just have HHH atttack Show with the hammer a few times.

The main event i surprisingly loved. Everyone, including Cena was in top form! Its a shame though that Kurt is nothing but a jobber at this point. He should be having classic showdowns with HBK or Shelton but instead hes stuck putting Vanilla Ice over.

Wow, it takes a lot to offend me.  Things don't usually get to me, but the shit they pulled tonight on that Tuesday Smackdwon special was some of the lowest shit Vince has ever pulled.  Firstly they have Show come out and beat the shit out of Rey Jr. and slam him all over Eddie Guerrero's lowrider.  Not only is this totally inconsistent with what happened just yesterday when Show called out Triple H for beating the shit out of Flair, but the use of Eddie's car as a prop is totally tasteless.  And then they have Randy Orton "murder" The Undertaker by beating him while he lays in Eddie's car.  Then he backs the car into a wall and the entire thing explodes.  I thought after that week of Eddie tribute shows that Vince could actually be sincere about something.  Then he uses the memory of Eddie Guerrero, who hasn't even been gone for 3 weeks yet, as a fucking prop in an outlandish scene where a wrestler is supposedly killed.  Talk about disrespect.  They've gone low before, but capitalizing on the very recent death of a beloved pro wrestler in an absurd and tasteless angle is just about as bad as it gets.

« Reply #3099 on: November 30, 2005, 03:32:59 PM »

As someone who owns many tagged classics one of the reasons they have not released any attitude era ones yet is because they are doing it in order (i guess....).  Also there are edits on there.  Such as when they say WWF the F has been edited out so it's W, W, *insert silence here*.  Whereas it's ok for them to say World Wrestling Federation so that hasn't been edited.  From what i have heard though there is a lot more editing on the Attitude stuff so it's not known when or if it will be re-released, i hope it is though as i am collecting all the bastards....
