I won't deny that IMO 2002/3 was the last really good period (in some respects). They lost a few major stars and yeah, they've never really had one that can compare to Austin (last match in 2003), The Rock (2004) or Hogan (he'll never have a 'last match'....).

I find that looking back on past years actually makes it seem better to me than it did at the time. Hell, Wrestlemania 19 is my favourite PPV ever and that happened in 2003. Cool

I watch wrestling sporadically, but I've been paying attention to it lately, since this is the part of the year when it's usually at its best. I like that they're pushing a lot of young talent. Anything is better than seeing Cena vs. Orton for the billionth time.

But anyways, the promo for 2/21/11 has me seriously excited. I grew up in the 90's, so Sting was my favorite wrestler. I worshipped the guy, and it makes me kinda sad that he's wasted the last several years of his career in TNA. That video they aired on RAW looks and feels so much like a Sting video. It immediately made me think of the Starrcade 97 video. There's been a lot of rumors floating around out there now that Sting really has signed with the WWE. If it doesn't turn out to be him, I'm going to be incredibly disappointed.

Could we potentially see a Sting vs. Undertaker match at Wrestlemania???!?! That's one of those dream matches people always fantasized about but never thought they'd see. If it really does happen, I'll be buying Wrestlemania for sure.

I heard it's a promo for the Undertaker's return and he'll be fighting Wade Barrett at 'Mania.

If WWE saw the response this video got, and wanted a "huge draw" at WM like they were trying with Brock, they would go to Sting and say "Look, small limited dates deal - this is generating buzz - we want you in the HOF with HBK as well. What's it going to take?"

I was just checking out some old wrestling stuff from back in the day, and I can't believe how much I was into it.

My first proper PPV was Fully Loaded, with The Rock vs Chris Benoit, such an epic night. With Foley coming out and declaring it was not a disqualification. And then The Rock eventually winning, I remember it was the talk of the school with everyone watching it.

The Rock was so much apart of the Golden Attitude era, and it seems so nostalgic today how good it was back in 1999/2000.  Grin

Yes, when The Rock still used to come out in a black tracksuit. I used to have loads of wrestling DVD's and Videos, but I sold them all around 2003. But I might start buying some again, but from my favourite era like 1999/2001.

People love to hate on The Rock, but that guy knew how to hold a crowd. And I really do think that The Rock basically screwed the nail in WCW's coffin, he made the WWF such a force, that it was impossible to compete.

It's not Sting, it's Undertaker. Check out the promo from last night, it's a song used for a video montage of the Undertaker before his match against HBK awhile back.

Plus there's a wrestling thread ok

I love the early 90s and the attitude era myself, anything post Wrestlemania 19 (2003) is utter crap for me!

The best years for me were 1990 - 1993 and 1997 - 2000, in the WWF of course.

As far as WCW, i liked 1997 and early 1998 only!

The second promo, especially with the Johnny Cash song at the end, really deflated all my Sting hopes. I know I'm probably giving the WWE way too much credit, but I hope that the references to Taker in the last video were just to get people focused away from Sting for awhile, make them think it's Undertaker, then shock the hell out of everyone when Sting shows up on RAW that same night.

But yeah, that's probably not going to happen. I haven't totally given up hope, though. Sting hasn't re-signed with TNA, they've taken him off their website, Bischoff said he's not coming back to TNA . . . Even if Sting isn't the mystery guy for 2/21, maybe all the excitement that this caused will make him and Vince finally work something out, since so many fans out there are dying to see it.

the mark in me also got excited for sting...then the promo this week should have just been Vince jumping up and down yelling out "NOT STING NOT STING NOT STING NOT STING!!"...perhaps WWE is just trying to throw us off...but right now i believe its the undertaker espically the johnny cash song at the end now...but man, that first promo was kinda like the Starrcade 97 sting promo so i naturally thought "YES!! THEY GOT STING!!!"

oh well...

Word going around is that WWE officials have discussed The Undertaker vs. Triple H for WrestleMania 27 in a Career vs. Streak match with Shawn Michaels as the guest referee.

oh how i hope that match dosent happen...HHH and Taker again wouldnt be good to me. there match at Wrestlemania 17 was a great match, i dont think they could do anywhere near that level again...i say have Taker work with Barrett to put a young talent over...

besides HHH taking on Taker makes no sense booking wise...as you would figure Hunter would be going after Sheamus.

but then again...this is WWE...it wouldnt surprise me if they had Hornswoggle end the streak...
