There was a major mistake at WWE's Backlash PPV during the WWE title match. Randy Orton hit an RKO and went for a cover. The bell rang to signal that the match was over and it was only a two count. Randy Orton actually won the match with a 'head kick' to Triple H. The announcers (especially Michael Cole) tried to cover the major mistake.

Cena getting choked slammed through the whatever the hell that was was cool

Overall, boring PPV though very very predictable

the only surprise was Kane winning and who gives a shit about that.

Cena/Edge was pretty good though

I quite enjoyed Backlash. Not PPV of the year or anything but I still tought it was enjoyable. The ECW Title match was a good way to start and Kane/Punk was good for a match kinda thrown together at the last minute. The World Title matches were good; I think they told their stories well. Not quite sure about the Big Show interference though... Undecided How many World Titles has Edge won now??

Matt/Jeff could have been better though. A lot of submission-type stuff in a no DQ match featuring the Hardys.... Still, it was OK.

Not sure what they're driving at having Kane beat Punk? Surely as MITB winner they'd want to make Punk look reasonably good. Especially against Kane who's barely more than a jobber these days?

Lance Hoyt aka Lance Rock announced on Sunday's Professional Championship Wrestling event in Arlington, Texas that he had signed a deal with World Wrestling Entertainment.

PCW, where Hoyt first trained and appeared, aired a tribute video for him at the end of their event and all the wrestlers gave Hoyt a farewell celebration.

Thanks to M. Mitok for his help.

Isn't that exactly what they did last year? CM Punk won the MITB, and then proceeded to get beat every week on RAW.

Argh - Backlash was pointless

so obvious....THREE title matches and they might as well have said who won before

Edge HAD to win - he's the only Smackdown guy in the matches - how can the writers be so dumb? Did they think the audience would forget?

I assumed Steamboat would win his final match - in the end, what did that match achieve? Jericho wins and....walks off?

Why didnt he gloat? Steamboat won't be back - so why not bash his head in with a chair, that way Jericho could go on Smackdown and say he had ''ended his career'' etc...

Kane beating Punk clean - why wasnt this a dark match, or on RAW??

..why do an 'I Quit' match on a PG show - how did they think it would work?!

But what really annoyed me, the thing that over shadowed everything

Edge's (4th?) title reign in 6 months - what the hell?? Is he planning on being an 88 time world champion??

Austin managed about 5 reigns? The Rock and Bret Hart had 7, Edge has managed 8 in 2 and a half years....

edit: i'm livid - Edge is on HIS 9TH FUCKING REIGN!!!! Argh!!!

Yes!  Always liked him and the dude is very good in the ring for his size.

Great news! Always thought he had potential when he was in TNA but then they lumbered him with Rave and basically killed him. For some reason I can see him going the Test route aka solid midcarder nothing more.

Interesting New Stats;

-- With Randy Orton winning the WWE title, Edge winning the World Heavyweight title and Christian winning the ECW title, Backlash was the first WWE Pay-Per-View where the top title for each brand changed hands in one night.

-- With his ECW title win over Jack Swagger last night, Christian became the first wrestler to leave WWE for TNA, win TNA's top title, then come back to WWE and win a brand's top title. There was some speculation not too long ago that WWE was holding a grudge against Christian for going to TNA, but him capturing the ECW title and working a program with the brand's top young rising star is an indication that his TNA run will not affect his WWE career moving forward.

-- Edge's World Heavyweight title win over John Cena was the Rated R Superstar's ninth major title run in WWE. The only other active WWE superstar with more major title wins is Triple H, who has held the WWE Championship & World Heavyweight championship a total of 13 times. This is Edge's 5th time winning the World Heavyweight Championship, tying him with Triple H for the most times holding that particular belt.

I know this isn't totally related, but you guys do know about Jeff not renewing his contract yet? If he doesn't sign soon, last night might have been his last PPV.

Nah I doubt that's the last of him, he's got afew months left and the way Vince is he wouldn't've let Jeff win if that was his last match. I can see Extreme Rules (One Night Stand) being his last PPV, putting someone over maybe Punk, Morrison or even Ziggler.

Jeff quitting wrestling or going back to TNA?

The kids will be gutted - personally dont give a monkees about either Hardy, carefully staged jumps arent really ''extreme''....

I know it was on Sunday but did anyone else think Edge vs Cena at Backlash was amazing? Reminded me of the old Foley and Rock attitude era classics.

Aye I really enjoyed.

Was Backlash predictable? Yes.  Did it give us six good wrestling matches? Yes.
