Going by the title of the thread, its safe to say that VH1 was the source. I was watching CNN the other day, and they had this segment about the top 20 albums of the past 20 years. Guess what? GNR was not on the list! I couldn't believe it. I dont remember everything on it, or I would post it. I was just shocked that there was no mention of GNR. It was the worst list I ever seen.

Jarmo, do you ever sit and think about GNR and wonder,'I cant believe it came to this?' Its really sad, and pathetic. Such extreme talent flushing itself down the toilet. Its also strange that we're so mesmerized by him. Anyone else's fanbase would have jumped ship 8 or 9 years ago.

Yeah, Slash has gone on record saying he didn't like the song.  He also said he come up with that riff as a joke, but the guys in the band liked how it sounded.  I'll bet he probably warmed up to it after a while though.  After all it is the song that put them on the map.

The Guns N' Roses pop rock anthem "Sweet Child O' Mine" has been voted the greatest guitar riff of all time according to music fans. The famous track came top of a poll of 100 Greatest Riffs Ever voted for by readers of Total Guitar magazine. Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit" came in second in the survey of 2,000 guitar fans, followed by Led Zeppelin's "Whole Lotta Love".

Tracks by the Rolling Stones and the Sex Pistols failed to make it into the 20 favourites.
