as for the VR coments. well their cd isn't really good, and they're just a normal day band. but that was a little harsh. either way, it's just one bald guy's opinion

Ok.. I really doubt anyone but the people who read gnr/vr boards are really seeing all these interviews or them portraying as some bad ass rock group... I do think the music could be better even though I was happy with the stuff so far..

Although I don't agree with Ian Robinson, I believe he is one of those people who are confused by Scott's strange on stage behavior. I have to admit, it was distracting, in the same way that Axl's shrinking underpants became a distraction.

I don't really see how they are trying so hard to be bad ass.  They talk about their families and how they are all cleaned up, Matt is the only one into the groupie thing and recently said he is trying to be faithfull to his girlfriend.  There no drama on stage, no one is fighting with anybody.  The only thing recent that was drama was the whole Scott Nazi thing and that to me is him not being a bad ass but trying to get his point across and he didn't even wear the hat in Germany.  I don't see how hard they are trying to be this way.

That says it all, i saw Meshuggah at Download this year and they were one of the worst bands ive ever seeing every song sounded the same they were bland, boring and although loud which isn't a bad thing the drumming reminded me of that heard on St. Anger, now Contraband isn't amazing and Velvet Revolver aren't the best band around but he was being way too harsh...but we're all entitled to our opinions.

I don't know if I can agree with you ChineseBlues, I just read an interview with Duff on the 2 page of this section and he didn't at all sound like he was trying to be bad ass.  All the other interviews I have read, I can't remember word for word but I never got the vibe of bad ass at all.  But that's just me, I don't know about everyone else.

it was the initial hype to make the band seem different... But who the hell reads all these interviews besides a few random people on metal sludge or blabber mouth.. Every band I go see I don't pay this close attention too, I just know tour dates and the singles on the radio or the albums not their personal hype in the media..

I haven't heard one interview where they come of as some badass dangerous guys, they just chat with the interviewers, answer their questions and does it nicely.
real badass, they're pretty much wearing the same stuff that they did back in the old days, maybe there's a few new shirts though...
and I REALLY don't think they are so concerned about their image that it effects their songwriting...I can't imagine them sitting in the studio going like "hey, Duffman, how's my hair? don't I look buff in this new shirt?"
