I was the one who originally posted the clip in the first place, and directly stated it was live clips right from the get-go. I made it for my college friends and uploaded it in a MyGN'R string because I thought other Gunners would find it amusing. "The Blues" section is from the Pittsburgh soundboard. It sounds studio (but again, IS NOT) because I band extrapolated the audio and then sped up the tempo to correspond with the guitar solos in the Vegas and Rio performances. I thought that it would be safe to do this if I directly said exactly what it was, but I should have known some dipshit would reupload while adding a bunch of lies. Sorry for any confusion.

I hope you aren't referring to me as a dipshit. Cause I didn't hear it when you originally posted it and some guy uploaded it from a different site and I thought I would see what the deal was, if anyone knew what was up with it. Dave pointed out that it was a cleaned up live version like 10mins after I posted it and I changed the title of the thread after I knew it wasn't studio.

Finck doesn't suck. None of new GN'R members "suck". and you know, it's a very critical (rather EXIGENT) guy who tells you that: me, nesquick.
I think the right view is when you say "I thought he was brutal on the 2002 tour". That's right. That's the right analyse in my opinion. I agree. In my opinion, his sound was "brutal" in the way it was in total opposition with how GN'R sounded back in the days (this "classic-rock" sound, both bluesy and row). I think it was "brutal" because Robin's style is so different from what GN'R has always been that...sometimes you wonder if he is really the right guy, considering his style and approach (same for BH, Fortus is perfect though). It doesn't mean he sucks, I have too much respect for Robin to say he sucks, it wouldn't be nice, but it's pretty clear for me that Robin is a step back of talent compared to Slash. I am fair, and I like to be fair, He doesn't do justice to the "former" lead GN'R guitarist. Undecided

Well NIN songs are far from difficult to play and he sucked in 2002 and that's all I've heard from him so until I'm proven otherwise I don't hold his guitar skills in very high regard. He may be a great person but being cool doesn't mean you are a good guitarist.

No, the dipshit is the guy who reuploaded it to MyGN'R. You did the right thing and asked for clarification, rather than drawing your own assumptions.  peace

Cool then, cause I thought that you were being mean to me and I was gonna have to do an axl rant on your ass. rofl ok

Besides, nesquick, I can play the Patience solo better than him and I SUCK at guitar. Robin works for GnR!!! What else does he have to do other than play guitar and learn old tunes? He's supposed to be a professional guitar player and he can't play a simple solo? That's why I say he sucks.  I know, he wanted it to sound like that, right? Well then he's tone-deaf, cause it sounded like shit, don't fuck with a good thing is what I say.

I dunno, there was a poster here who nailed the problems that finck has; his solos are sloppy and off tempo, he bends his notes far too long and lags behind the rest of the song, his notes are far from smooth, rather very choppy.  Buckethead nailed every piece of music he attempted, whereas time and time again, Finck has butchered his fair share of old songs, hear LALD from the Asian tour, Blues from Pitt, Patience from Detroit, November Rain from the entire 2002 tour.....I was not impressed by Finck. Frankly, I don't believe Axl can go forward with Finck and Fortus on leads.

Thanks for helping me out killingvector beer

I don't know, he just doesn't do it for me, and I like alot of really good guitar players from different genres, Dimebag, Zakk Wylde, Pepper Keenan, Dave Mustaine, Slash, Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, Kurt Cobain, Jerry Cantrell, Jimmy Page, Buckethead, Kid Rock, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Kirk Hammett, James Hetfeild, Mick Mars, CC Devill, John Lennon, Randy Rhodes, Prince, Joe Perry, Joe Satrianni, Jeff Beck, Jeff Martin, Tom Petty, Wes Borland, Peter Frampton, just to name some.

Anyway, what I'm gettin at is Finck doesn't really compare to these guys, first of all the only thing he has really done is play other peoples songs as a live musician, I haven't heard anything he has written for sure, (we don't know what the credits are on the "new" songs) and on the 2002 tour he butchered most of the old solos he played, even nesquick agreed to that. To me his track record ain't so hot. I don't see how people say he is so awesome. Just cause he plays for GnR and he is freinds with Axl? Come on! That doesn't mean he is good.  Show me something good he has written (and it can't be the blues or Maddy or CD or IRS or Rhyad cause we don't know who wrote them yet) or something really impressive that he has done live. I dare ya.

I'm pretty sure Robin wrote The Blues solo... At least that's what his webmaster told us once.

Finck is an awesome guitar player. I know what I'm talkin' about... Yeah, he fucked up this solo in Pittsburgh, so what? Slash fucked up some solos too. His work on the new songs are the best guitar work of them all, IMO. A lot better than anything current, including VR.

BTW, Wes Borland sucks big time.

ok you named some guitar players, but you don`t know how they would sound if they had to play in gnr as robin does.....

i think robin is a great guitar player and i really appreciate that he`s the new lead player in gnr. i believe that we`ll hear some cool work from him on CD. at the moment we don`t know what he wrote for the new songs exactly, but i think it`s almost sure that he wrote the solo for CD for example and it`s great imo. the problem is that he doesn`t play in slash`s style like many people here want him to.

Let me get this straight, you like Cobain, Kid Rock,  and Borland (just to name a few on that list) yet you dont like finck? Finck is MUCH MUCH better than all three of them especially that hack Kurt Cobain.  As for Finck buthering the songs, its live and shit happens. That is just his style, and sometimes he bends notes too far.  Finck can play the songs perfect if he  wanted to just look at SCOM.  Also read the reviews, most said you could close your eyes and not tell the difference between the old and new band.   Slash played very sloppy a lot of the time on tour with gnr or did some of you forgot that?

The fallacy that a lot of you people that bash finck do its compare fincks live playing with the studio playing of slash or any other guitar player.

As for what Finck wrote, we know he wrote the blues since his web master said that he did.

I'm pretty sure I know something about guitar AND I think Finck rocks. I've recorded The Blues and I was even more excited about Finck's work. You know, he's not a cliche factory...
I think you don't like the guy because his style is too far from Slash. But I think that's why Axl wanted Robin... And you guys underestimate Axl's point here. He wouldn't call Robin to join GNR TWO times if he just sucks, as you (and the ones who thinks that you need to understand something about guitar to like/dislike some player) like to claim. Tongue

But Slash also played brilliantly. Since this band is new, the fans need to hear the same brilliance that was once offered to them; frankly Finck hasn't demonstrated that he is a consistantly above average player. I understand that he is playing the old stuff, songs he didn't write, but often times when listening to selected boots and SBs from the 2002 tour, I cringed. SBs expose alot of problems; Finck even fell behind the tempo on songs whose solos he wrote. I just don't understand why he does this. After all, he is a professional.

Whatever, I really love his floppy effect in combination with BH's solidness on GN'R.
