The theory British royal DIANA, PRINCESS OF WALES was murdered has been boosted by the recent discovery her chauffeur received mystery payments amounting to $142,000 (GBP75,000) - just weeks before she died in the car he was driving.

Chauffeur HENRI PAUL died alongside Diana and her lover DODI AL FAYED when the Mercedes he was driving crashed in an underpass in Paris, France in August 1997.

And British detectives investigating the tragedy have fuelled speculation Paul was being paid by British secret service agents, by revealing the staggering sums he received from British banks just before the fatal accident.

Financial investigators have also revealed Paul had staggering amounts of money in 13 bank accounts around the world, despite earning just $38,000 (GBP20,000) a year as a driver for Paris' Ritz hotel, reports British newspaper the DAILY EXPRESS.

A source close to the inquiry explains, "Money was drafted over to Paul from accounts in England. As far as the investigation is concerned, this is a crucial breakthrough.

"Many thousands of pounds arrived from Britain in the weeks leading up to the tragedy. It arrived via a banker's draft and was converted into French francs from sterling.

"We have always wanted to get to the bottom of who was paying Henri Paul all this cash and now we're getting close."

Yea, it is a horrible tribute to a woman who seemed to do so much that she did not have to do.

It's all about sensation I guess.

In life i'm not sure she was anything special - and since her death so much has been printed on her, she hardly seems a particularily inspiring individual - shallow seems an apt describtion, and after 8 years....who cares anyway?

Well either way you look upon her, they should leave the poor dead woman be!

But it keeps the ratings up and sells papers, so that is all that matters.

I am under the impression that your tabloids are much worse than ours, is that true?

Lol - i must confess i have little experience with American tabloids, but i'd imagine they'd struggle to beat 'The Sun', 'The Mirror' and 'The Star' - they have no news in whatsoever and just pursue 'celebrities' - or make people 'celebrities' and then pursue this articfical construct

They are the most degenerate nonsense u can imagine - pages and pages about soap operas and idiot culture, everything is about sex - whole editions on 'Big Brother', and yes, plenty on Princess Diana and the 'evils' of illegal immigants - and when it can combine those topics with sex then u have the headline!

If American ones even approach the shockingly low standards of the British ones i'd be very surprised

Atleast they are full of soft core porn...i suppose thats a plus, right? Right?

http://www.thesun.co.uk/

That's the most infamous - i don't wate time on their web sites but i'd imagine its trashy enough to give a reflection of the paper itself

Let's not forget The Daily Sport  hihi I bet America doesn't even have an equivalent of The Daily Sport! It's main focus is pretty much soft-core porn, as Izzy brought up. Scarcely any news inside it, really. It's just trashy, but it's passed off as a newspaper.

Don't you think that if ANYONE is murdered, honoring their name is to find who the killers are and put them in a court of justice ? rant

In this, diana is like everybody else.

If these men and women who work hard since 1997 trying to figure out her death can prove murder, don't you think diana would, finally, rest in peace ?

A Chauffeur is a paid driver, where he is at your command and will drive you anywhere.   A driver is just anybody driving...anything!  So there is a distinction between the two where a chauffeur is a profession and a driver is not.  However, taxi-cab drivers are not called chauffeurs...it's mainly reserved for fancier rides.

So who cares? Lot of people seem to like Diana a lot... She and charles weren't a lot different... Both slept around, lived the high life...The only difference being Diana looked a lot better and knew how to handle the PR...
