NO!! Strat! yes
sunburst with rosewood (or even better, ebony!) fretboard! drool
Strat and Tele don't sound that different, but that Strat is more versatile! ok

"Strat and Tele don't sound that different, but that Strat is more versatile" - so if it doesnt sound different, how is it more versatile?

and back to the original topic, i think i kinda understand now - fat strat has humbuckers instead of single coil (someone please correct me if im wrong). i still dont know what a highway is though

the Highway 1 is the cheapest american made Fenders. they're not as good as the ones that cost twice as much, but they are pretty decent guitars! ok

you're right about the fat and standard thing. fat strat has either 2 humbuckers, or 1 humbucker and 2 singlecoils, while the standard has 3 singlecoils.

I have a Stratocaster Deluxe FMT, and I love that guitar. it's got the humbucker, singlecoil, singlecoil system. it also has an s-1 switch that makes it available to mix the pickups you're using in a way that's not available on other guitars.

the strat is more versatile cos it's got 3 pickups, the tele has got 2. and the neck pickup on the tele is reeeeeal thick sounding, can't use it for that much, but I love playing some blues on it. (I have a knockoff Tele too)

the strat also has the whammy-bar, which is fun to play with yes

plus the strat is cut more comfortable on the sides, the edges on the tele is flat.
it also hangs on you in a better angle, with the neck pointing up.

but anyways, I advice you to try both guitars, try everything the guitars have to offer, and then make a desicion.
I love both guitars, but if you are only gonna have only one guitar, my opinion is that the Strat is a better choice because of the versatility.

Les Pauls are brilliant too, real rock monsters!

PRS are also incredible guitars, my personal fav, slightly above the others, just slightly Cheesy
but they are very expensive Undecided

just ask if you have any more questions! peace

I think the rosewood looks SOO much cooler! and I love playing on it.
maple is harder wood, which might make it a little easier to do stringbends.

mine has got ebony, which is even darker than rosewood, it's practically black. and it's as hard as maple, so that's the best of both worlds there! but it's also more expensive than both the others! ok

there is no way you won't like it!!

just go for the one you get the best impression of while playing ok

Go for the Tele.  If you're concerned about how much crunch they have, listen to Led Zepplin I.  Saint Page played a Tele. ok
