According to my sources, this is his childhood home.

bonus picture: The Brownstone Apartments, supposedly the inspiration for Mr. Brownstone.

Brownstone is a reference to heroin. It isn't about an apartment complex.

True, but it's far more closely knit with the teen angst the song is pretty much about.

At least more than brown block buildings in relation to Mr. Brownstone...

Izzy came up with the title.

Mr Brownstone could easily be a reference to their delaer who lived in that complex?

I said "supposed." It's just local legend that Izzy bought and/or dealt drugs there. It could even be a double meaning. Just thought it would be interesting to show.

thanx for the pics..

who the fuck knows where the name brownstone comes from...Huh??

heroin?   crack?     these apartments?   a dealer here?

Izzy could have been referencing these buildings.
I just hate it when someone presumes to know everything about something that they know nothing about, just because it is known that Brownstone was a reference to heroin for the Gunners.
who's to say where Izzy got the name from.

cool pics.

thanks

Man wtf,? ?Brownstone? ? ?herion is the color of brown which is packed tight which looks like a fucken stone.? JEEZ.? ? ?If u truly dont know what ur talkin about? ?just dont say anything;

cute.

Dont you just think it is weird that there is a complex called 'Brownstone' in the town that Izzy and Axl grew up in and they have a song called 'Mr Brownstone'?  Im not saying the song is about fun times they had in the apartment but rather he got the name for the song from this place.  Its obvious the song is about fucking heroin.  Now do YOU know what im talking about?

Also when have you heard (apart from GNR) that another sland name for heroin is 'brownSTONE'?  I havent.  Axl said in court that Izzy came up with the name.

I like the double meaning, Brownstone for heroin being brown and like a stone and they bought the brownstone from an apt building called brownstone.

Axls house looks like the one I grew up in for a few years.

nice job Johnny, thanks for the pics!

the Brownstone buildings are probably the reason Izzy came up with that way of referring to heroin..
it's not like it was a trademark slang for heroin, at least not before GN'R got big (probably still isn't though Grin)!

In Robert John's book it shows Axl in front of the trees he planted when he was younger, certainly looks like similar surroundings.

And yes Mr Brownstone is about drugs and not an apartment block, but they had to get the name 'Brownstone' from somewhere, think about it before dismissing it.

Thanks for sharing  ok

Are the pictures from that book online anywhere? I know what the other side of the house and the other houses look like. I took it from that angle as not to show off a street sign or an address or anything like that.

I was tempted to go up and ask if they knew they were living in his old house, but I didn't. I felt like a detective or something parked across the street taking the picture, which is why I only took one.

Didn't Kurt Cobain's childhood home sell for a lot more than it was worth, just because it was his house?

Don't know, but his house was much bigger than this one.

Actually, if you replace the wood panels by fake red brick, this little house is very similar to the one i grew up in in between 5 and 12 years old.
