I heard the story on 98.9 the Rock (Kansas City) of how when Axl heard her cover of SCOM, he personally called and chastised her.? He said called her a "stupid bitch" and told her she should be embarrassed of herself.

I think this is total bullshit.

I remember that Axl said that he was always wondering why other bands don't make covers from their songs and that would be interesting when he was asked a question concerning that thing. (Or was it Steven Tyler.. confused)

Look, Johnny's a great guy, but he has no insider information about Guns N' Roses.  Take his comments with a grain of salt.

What?

Johnny Dare said said that shit whenever Big Daddy came out (late 90's).  Plus, he reiterated the story when I talked to him at the Velvet Revolver show in KCK just last year.

Trust me, the story is legitimate.  Axl Rose called her personal number and let her have it.  Big Boss, Gigger , Mysteron, Jarmo, someone back me up.

No one will back you up, because it's simply not true. The DJ probably made it up.

I've been around GN'R message boards / mailing lists / newsgroups since early 1999. If Axl had made such comments, trust me I would remember it.

I recall hearing this rumor.? Don't remember reading anything that proved it happened or suggested it was true, though.

(For the record, I've been visiting the various incarnations of HTGTH since '98 or so.? The site looks better with each year that passes, Jarmo.? ?ok )

I've worked at this radio station for a while now, and I've been hanging around these boards a long time, just don't post much.  Know why?  Cuzz radio stations, even the major ones, don't know a thing that people on these boards don't.  When you hear something on the radio it is almost certainly taken from a place like this.  There's a common misconception that just because someone hears something on the air, the person who said it must know Axl personally.  Clearly, this couldn't be further from the truth.  I've been around radio long enough to know that program directors and music directors who espouse they heard something from their "record rep" are usually full of shit.  No one knows what's going with this record except those closest to Axl, and these people are NOT djs.

I think is good that artists make covers of GNR songs, even if isn't any good, that's publicity for them.

"Gay" comment above
Not directed at Axl..
Rather Kurt Loder.

How can you remember something that never happened? And then get so many people to debate it? About a month ago I asked people if they remembered that story about Axl working on 2 songs on Chris Cornell's solo album. I got crucified for it. And everyone just laps this Sheryl Crow shit up. STRANGE!

she won a grammy for that performance of SCOM, so it wasnt all bad. Plus that fattened Axl's pocket also her putting it on a cd

Milli Vanilli won a grammy too, whats your point? Roll Eyes

1. This didnt happen
2. Great post by alienv49. That post should be saved and posted as a reminder in every thread that starts with "I just heard on -------- radio station..........."
3. The song that Sheryl Crow sang the night of the MTV awards was "Safe and Sound" and yes it was a great performance. I've said it numerous times, I would love to hear Axl sing this song.
