That is very random out there.. I have no idea, but being nothing has been said I doubt it.. This would give them a new huge fans base, hell some people who saw them in 89 might be seeing them again.. Right now I'm glad they are opening for sabbath and doing ozzfest.. SHould be some key exposure.. I believe matt said they would be back in the studio in september.

yeah, matt did say studio in september. but it still wouldn't surpise me if they opened up a handful of dates for them.

in the past the stones have had strong opening acts, and have also used certain bands for just a few shows here and there on their tours (like gnr in '89)

i've actually heard from a trusted source in the industry that at the very least it has been talked about.

also, didn't VR back out of a couple ozzfest shows or something?

I know vr are playing the last bunch iof ozzfest dates,, Not usr eif they backed uout, I think it might have been a mix up..

Judging by the interviews where scot said he would like new songs to switch it up I can't see an extended tour without a new album or some type of new material first.. But anything is possible.

Wasn't there some talk around the time of the Stones' Voodoo Lounge Tour that they wanted the orginal lineup of GN'R back together to open for them?

With that said, I think VR would be a great opening act!

I feel the same way after this curent tour ends.. I could see if the album was high on the charts and the demand was very high, but being it has tailed off it only makes sence to broaden the setlist

i just don't see them on the same stage, the type of show is completly different. it worked with gn'r but gn'r had the music that fitted the stones... VR are way too post grunge. i dunno. i don't see it like a good choice, but that's just me...
there's obviously ppl interested in the gig, so what the hell do i know Tongue

I could see it happening.

Considering Slash seems to be friends with certain band members.

Talking of "grunge", even Pearl Jam opened for the Stones in 1997. Wink

I guess I would be surprised if VR doesn't open at least some shows for The Stones.

when i saw the stones in '89, living colour opened up for them.

and my parents saw the stones in the 70's and the commodores opened up for them. they got booed off the stage.

I for one think this will be a horrible idea. I like the Stones and like VR alot more, but VR is going to be coming back to some of the cities Stones are playing and it will be like the 5th time in some of the cities. I know for a fact VR have played Detroit already atleast 3 times in the last year, and they are planning another date in the area in august.  The stones will be there too and this would be VRs 5th concert in Detroit.  I don't think VR will bring in so many extra fans like they like opening bands to do. VR ahs tour the hell out of this album and whored it out enough, Although touring to support their dvd concert might eb ok, I think the same songs overe and over are boring and they need to crank out a great second album then tour.

The Stones tour will be stretching well into next year; the Stones are being tipped to be the first music act to play in the rebuilt Wembley Stadium.

If VR have finished the second album I suppose there is every chance they may do the odd show. peace

It would be very cool.  Who remebers the salt of the earth clip that had Axl and Izzy with the stones.  That was awsome.  However Slash didn't play because he didn't want to be compared to Keith Richards and those Legends.  He didn't even get pictures with them so there would not be a comparison of the old school and new school.  That was a long time ago, i wonder if he feels the same way.
