The NEW GNR, not the OLD.

I've been coming to this message board since 2000. And all I wanted was for the old band to make up there differences and rock one more time. But many things have changed since 2000. And I think to many people on this board are stuck in the past, and dont undrestand what is really going on. I feel we should stop all the hopes of any old members joining Axl again to remake GNR. SO...

Here are a few things I just want to clear up with some of you (and some Qs)
1. Alot of people on this board are hoping that the new GNR album will be as good as AFD. Well, I guaranty you it wont be, because one cant compair the two.
If you've heard the IRS leak you can deffenently tell Axls voice sounds alot different then back in the 90s. And if you were lucky enough to see them on tour a few years ago, you got a good idea were Axls new sound is going. And thats what alot of people are missing out on. The new GNR is a NEW band, A new sound. They have NOTHING to do with the old GNRs sound/Lyrics/attitude. If your an old GNR fan, you obviously like that sound, THAT band. So what makes YOU a Chin Dem Fan? Let me take a crack at my own Q... AXL right? Axl is what brings you to this board? Axl and his new band.?. But wait just a min, we have yet to hear any songs on Chin Dem, we have heard new songs, but is that what Chin Dem will sound like? You better believe it. The Blues, Silk Worms, IRS, Chin Dem. All those songs came from the new GNR. Thats what the NEW Chin Dem album will sound like. Dont get me wrong, im not trying to give you some revieve of how I feel about these songs. Im just pointing out the obvious. Its a new band with new gaols and a new sound.

2. The whole VR/GNR thing. Im sick of it, all of it. Matt, Slash, and Duff have there own band now. Just like Axl has his own band. VR made a damn good album and it became the fastest growing album of the year. Velvet Revolver are succesful and right now they are on tour. Everyone in VR are happy, doing what they love and are having a great time. I think this is great. And some day ( we hope  ) the new GNR will do the same. I think its an insult when people say they want the old band back together. And when Slash, Matt, and Duff hear this they think its an insult to. Same with Axl. And face it, NO way will the old band every get together. They have no reason to, they are all grown up and have defferent feelings. All the old band members have said this many many times now. So lets stop with all this "I wish the old band would get back together" or "if one of the members wanted back" stuff. Becuase its pointless and will never happen. Think of it this way, take one of your old girl/boy friends you went out with, or even better an X wife/husband. That one you rele luved. And remember when you got into a big fight with em, and no long wish to see them again. SAME thing with Axl and the old band members. They will never be with each other ever agian. Just like you wouldnt take back a bitch of an X wife/husband or girl/boy friend. Ok, the point im trying to get across here is, letz stop with the post that tie in the old band with the new. Like I said above, because its an Insult.

Man how can one be living the past if we are gnr fans.. Gnr fans are going to like the band that gave them all the great music? that made gnr the household name they are and were... Imagine gnr fans wanting to see the band they started with, or hoping one day they regroup.. I can not understand why anyone would just accpet any old people hand picked in a band that was so amazing and considered one of the greats of all time..
If new gnr never existed gnr would still have millions of fans in one way or another.. As far as new gnr goes we have nothing, they have given us zero so why be so dedicated to something that really hasn't even happened yet..

It's like if brian may was out of queen, or jimmy paage would anyone not want them back, would any old person be suitable to use the zepplin queen name??

I will always want the old band back and always live in the past because that's were the only gnr era exists..

Edit, I will say for both of the group's dedication and effort I would like to see at least CD run it's course to make axl happy and vr as well then I would really want some type of reunion and reconsiliation

I agree with mike, im sick of the "dont get stuck in the past" because if the new band is so different from the old, the sound etc as you say then why bother naming it GNR. IT makes absolutely no sense at all.
Oh well lets hope some day Axl gets some senses, in the meantime I sure as hell want him to get that CD out.

I think you can like the new gnr, like velvet revolver, but still want the old band to get together. ?After all the orig 5 are why most people started to like GNR in the first place. ?No one said they can't go off on their own and do their own projects, but it would be nice if one day they could put aside all their differences and come back one last time. ?and BTW, since you want to compare it to being married then divorced, there are a lot of times where exes get back together. ?You don't always leave b/c you hate each other, but just couldn't find a way to agree. That's the case with old GNR. ?They couldn't agree so they went their separate ways, but it doesn't mean they can't get past that and reconcile...but only time will tell.........

The problem is Mike_guilana ?that with this "vs" thing - that only exists online. ?People have made such harsh comments either towards Axl or the VR guys, and have already made up their minds on "which side they're on". They treat it like some wrestling match lol. ?They would look really foolish ?If the old GNR guys made up with Axl. Simply because the excitment beyond the fan world, would be at the max for that. They are the guys that created the magic of GN'R together.  That's what people want to see when the think of GN'R - they want to see Slash, Axl and Duff doing what they do best.

The rest of us who just love music and just want to see these guys not wasting their talents, can enjoy whatever they do and the ideal pinnacle of that would be for a reunion sometime in the future. ? I can't believe how cynical the world is. ?I mean I know from my years of being a dedicated fan that money isn't the issue with these guys and anybody who has grown up listening to interviews and reading about these guys knows that it is not an issue of GNR making money from a nostalgia Tour. It would only be because they have made up and have a new desire to create new music together again. We shall see anyway.

And to the don't get stuck in the past comment do you know how much of the record industry thrives on back catalogues? ?Whilst good new music is essential, people will always go back and discover/re-discover the bands and artists of before. ?Music never dies.

Yes I know it's an online thing, we all know the sides already, we know who will say what in regards to a certain subject before we even check.. I know it's definetly different in the real world, this new gnr, vvs vr thing, or even new gnr alone is none existent (well by me at least)..

I still can't understand how anyone who claims to be a gnr fan first off would side with a new gnr over the real thing, and why it bothers them that the fans actually want to see them back toghter.. Reminds me of tsi where it says listen to the originals,.

Just about every band that is around for a really long time thrives on their back catalog because that is what made the fans fall in love.. No one forgets the time when they made it huge, that is the era most people want to hear..

I don't like analyzing old interviews or trying to make out new ones or battling with someone else.. I just want music and that's about it.. I know some are waiting for some magivcal album, I rather just see axl play and be a fan of his shows.. It's rock n roll just go out and do it..
I know axl isn't old but I feel he wasted so many prime years that he could have been performing for the fans.. Thank god I have a bunch of great albums to hear from the gnr era when they ruled the earth..

You are right, it doesnt make any sense. Because the new band doesnt sound like the old wut so ever. And thats what is wrong with you people. THIS IS AXLs NEW BAND WITH A NEW SOUND. It will not be like the old band. None of the new songs we have heard as of now sound like the old ones, and thank god for that. Its a NEW band, NEW. It will not be GNR. It will not sound like them. It cant. Get this threw your head.

It would be cool to have a reunion, But I think its great that VR are doing there own thing. Making kick ass music. Axl is a bitch who's been doing nothing with his life for a long time. He isnt about the music anymore. If he was, Chin Dem would be out and they would be touring. Thats another reason Slash, Matt, And Duff will never go back. Because Axl would take 15 years to make another album. + they have no reason what so ever to go back. They are making new music and they love doing what they are right now. Trust me people, Never again will Axl talk to Slash/Duff/Matt/Izzy.

WanaBGunner, I couldn't have said it better myself.  The old band was hell for Axl.  Since we are currently in limbo (purgatory)...I guess that makes New GNR just heavenly!  They are for me.  If you enjoy the old music, you're not living in the past.  If you listen to, and long for the reunion, THEN you are living in the past...and you're quite frankly pretty moronic, because you know it's never going to happen.  I liked WannaB's comparison to a bitch of an ex-husband or ex-wife...good analogy.

Being interested and longing are two different things.  The old guys created the magic that the name Guns N' Roses has built it's reputation on.  Full stop.  I am just as interested in the new GNR but again not longing. As a music fan i'm excited by either possibility but let's see some releases.

Do you think withholding an album for years and years is heavenly?  You could look at it in the sense that he has been looking for the right balance of people to fill huge shoes.  It's probably been a frustrating process for him.  From working with people he grew up with to making msuic with new people is a different thing altogether.

As a fan - When you have spoken and read about a record more than you have listened to it. Then you know we are all demented lol.  Let's hope we get that new album soon anyway

No offense WanaBGunner, but you are completely offbase.  GNR will always be the 5 guys that brought great music to us in the late  80s and early 90s. They had great chemistry and were very inspirational. In fact, they were part of the reason why I overcame my disability and continue to fight stereotypes. The new GNR, although intriguing, is not Guns. They are hired replacements (no pun intended). There is no chemistry in this band since half of the members do not know a thing about a release date or what is going on. I hope one day Axl can release CD and then call up the guys for a reunion. This would be one of the greatest comebacks in history for one of the greatest band of all-time!

Put the new gnr on the cover of rolling stone and the name guns n roses and most people would look at it and say....." ok i see Axl, wheres the rest of gnr?". It's a solo project with the name gnr on it. VR is more gnr than gnr
