I'll take a stab at reading Axl's mind on Contraband;
If he wins the court case: "I like some of it, but it's not really my thing."
If he loses the court case: "Fuck you."
If CD sells a few million copies: "Velvet who? Piece of shit."
If CD fails/ is never released: "I think we'll do a couple of tracks from it on the reunion tour, they're being fed into the autocue as we speak."

You can't just presume he doesn't like it just because they are ex-members of his band. The fans on the internet have created this "vs" thing and talk about how Axl feels but you simply don't know. I think your as bad as the press for always presuming a negative response from him.
He was in a band with these guys for years and i'm sure as a musician and a music fan, he can see what he likes and doesn't like about VR just as we can. People presume the worst because it fits their argument in this fan division thing. And the ex members only have a remaining problem with him because he kept the GNR name. So i really don't think they are throwing darts at each others pics lol
He may be a fan of Scott Weilands work, they have alot of the same influences.
Personally i think Axl would be able to see the potential they have as much as we can.

Now we know that Axl's never commented on Contraband so we don't know what he thinks of it. However, what does everyone think his thoughts are on the album, or even VR for that matter?
Its been said in many articles that Contraband is the CD GNR should have released after UYI.
Axl doesnt need the public to hear his thoughts or opinion's on shit.
But when CHINESE DEMOCRACY gets released, a betcha we hear all kinds of shit from the ex-members!!!
Contraband as gunners...............NO FUCKING WAY!!!!!

Axl would be asked for his opinion if he actually gave interviews. We only hear the ex-members opinions because they do speak, they are active and people want to know their opinions.

Slash has said in interviews that Axl should just get the CD out there.? He's curious to see what it'll sounds like.? He also states that Axl is a genuis and Chinese Democracy will be brilliant.

well, that's also when we'll hear Axl's opinion on VR.
I don't think you'll hear much crap from the ex-members as far as the music goes, it seems they all have great respect for Axl as a musician. but there might be some more ripping about him using the GN'R name. and I can definately understand that!
I also think Axl liked Contraband, based partly on his supposed "I wish I had produced it" comment.

I wish i had the article now, but there was a short mention somwere that Axl was surprised by how much he liked Contraband, and it inspired him to re-record vocals for CD. Im not sure if that was the exact wording but it said Axl was surprised by it. On the old VR message board someone said that Axl likes
Set Me Free
. It was mentioned a couple times that Axl liked that particular song. This was before Contraband was released.
No offense, but that sounds like first-rate bull-shit.? Axl isn't stupid enough to say something like that...and...I guess I have to thank god Contraband isn't what I've been waiting over 10 years for.?
? ? The Blues, Madagascar, IRS, Riyadh and CD are what I've been waiting over 10 years for...(notice I didn't include Silkworms)?
? Goddamn, I can't wait to hear these studio versions.? ?
? ?
I wasnt waiting 10 yrs for Contraband, I only waited approx. 1 year since they formed the band got it rolling, etc. ?Ill take Contraband and blast that badass record and laugh at those who have nothing but continued silence from the supposed "genious"

I really agree with what you said.. I also think axl would sound really good on a few songs mentioned to be covered off contraband.. Waiting for about 7 years you expect great music, if it was 1999 all over again and the music was something like tho boot swe have heard I would have been satisfied.. It would have been not just about the new songs but seeing axl perform.. As for axl, I don't know what he'd say, but he has a wide range of taste in music so I'm sure he likes and silikes some songs..

Axl never said such a thing (in public at least). As stated previously, the only comment he supposedly made was that he would have liked to produce it.
Yeah but remember that came from the guy who said Axl only got vocals done on 2 songs

The only reason Axl hasn't publicly commented on Contraband is because it would open him up to the "at least those guys are making music" type comments.
And what is he really going to say......even if he secretly really like it do you think we are going to get anything other than the "this just proves those guys needed me more than I need them" type of propaganda.
Just as when CD comes out does anyone really think we are going to hear Slash or Duff say, "Yeah, you know what, all that stuff really is better than any riff or note we ever wrote. Good thing he got himself a new line-up because we were obviously inferior."
Of course not. Both sides have an agenda and want to promote their currrent band and projects. Axl can't rip Contraband right now because he refuses to release music. If he ever does, then he will undoubtedly start teeing off unless CD isn't doing well with the public.....at which Axl's opinions will be irrelevant.

put axl's voice on anything and people would love it here.. Did you see the craziness over a shitty 32 second audio. Axl could definetly sing some of the songs on CB and it would be great.. I do agree cb would suck as a new gnr album now because expectations and everyone's arguments are about how it's taking forever because he's making a superior album..

Probably. Because they'd have a different singer and different lyrics.
I don't think all the songs from "Contraband" would've made a GN'R record if the old band were still together....

'It's Five O'Clock Somewhere' was supposed to be a GNR album, not Contraband.

So let me understand axl just let slash take the new gnr album and make it a snakepit album.. How is that possible..? A lot of gnr fans like TSI and a lot of us might not have been big punk fans but we wound up enjoying it anyways.. Point is if something like the first snakepit album was sung by axl all the haters would be loving it because axl's voice was on it.. I would have taken the first snakepit album in `1995 by gnr anyday.. I am sure the lyrics would have been slightly different if it was a gnr album.. I was never crazy about dover... Axl singing it would have been good..

No. I believe he didn't want to use the songs as they were, he probably thought there were cool ideas in there, but they probably needed to be worked on.
Slash took that as a "no" and recorded the songs on his own.
Something like that.
