There are a couple of mentiones on todays 20 questions with Death Angels guitarist Ted Aguilar:
In "rate this guitarists on a scale from 1 to 10" he says: "Slash = Oh, dude. I?d give that guy a 10. And the top hat a 15." , and on the "What ?rock star? deserves a smack in the mouth and why?"-question he says: "Oh, man. To tell you the truth? Axl. I mean, I don?t know when Chinese Democracy?s coming out, but you know, it seems like the guy?s got issues. I think he should just bury the hatchet with everything and everyone, and just get the original Guns N? Roses Appetite For Destruction lineup back together and just get out there and start rockin?, ?cause that?s when they were at their best. That would be huge? very huge!" Basically that's what been said by many in the metal and rock comunity, and this aint nothing exciting to us here on the board, I just tought I'd let you all see it.

... IF the original line up had stayed together and were churning out records every couple of years?

Nope, and that is the point.

Axl has always been the favorite rock star to bash, whether it be a tabloid or has been or wannabe rock star. I attribute that to several factors:
1. Jealousy - Let's face it, rockers get into the business to be successful. While they may not all be financially driven, the rockers still have dreams of making it, you don't want to be a garage band your whole life. Axl was at the top of the heap for a while, and even after 12 years of no album, can still get the big guys (ie: MTV) to roll out the red carpet for them.
2. Disgruntled Fan Syndrome - they're displacing their anger over the breakup of one of their favorite bands.
3. Because Axl chooses to live his life the way he sees fit, rather than live it for someone else. This is a part of the disgruntled fan syndrome. Many fans think that their stars owe them something, and when they don't get what it is they think they are entitled to, they lash back.

The Sludge 20 questions usually also includes the question: What band should call it a day? How many of these wannabes/has beens would say GnR ... IF the original line up had stayed together and were churning out records every couple of years?

Yep,  nice post Tied-Up. There's also:
4: Bitter Ex Band Member Syndrome, which is what Slash has. Yes, he has VR now, but methinks he knows that they'll never be as great as Gn'R were, and he's bitter about it. He was bitter before VR, because he thought "Fuck, I was in the biggest band in the world, and now I'm not!" so then he decides to get revenge by talking shit about Axl in the rags and papers.

That makes no sense. Slash never attacked Axl before VR, and right now VR is an active functioning successful band. Axl on the other hand has released one song, leaked one song, and played 27 shows total since 1994 (why would Slash attack him to get attention??, Slash is the popular one right now). Remember Axl is also the one that banned Slash from the Las Vegas gig, Axl is also the one who launched into his rants durring the 2002 tour about "his other freinds"............ That were all unsollicited rants and attacks from Axl. Everyone seems to think that SLash is on a constant smear campain against Axl, when the reality is the only time Axl's name was mentioned was durring the press junkets for Contraband, and that is only because they were asked about Axl (which is his own fault for making the press go to former members looking for info on what he's doing), alot of the "AxlBashing" could have been stoped by him maybe releasing info about the CD more that once every few years thru cryptic press releases.

I think that the reason Axl is such a popular answer to that question lies in the background of the person being asked.

Think about it, at one time Guns N' Roses were the biggest band in the world. How many people can say that they were a member of the biggest band in the world? just a handful....... How many people aspire to be in the biggest band in the world? every member of every garage band going...

The people being interviewed by metal sludge arent exactly Eric Clapton and Jimmy Page, it's usually the rythym guitarist for a band called "Blood Clot" or something like that. To someone who is just lucky to have his name in a rag like metal sludge it must be difficult to see someone like Axl who had everything (For Christs' Sake, he was the crown price of Rock and Roll) and just throw it away like that. These people scratch and claw just to get a minor record deal, if they can play infront of more than a few hundred people it's the highlight of their career...... Five years into Guns N' Roses Axl and Izzy were on stage with the Rolling Stones, while the members of "Blood Clot" might not be able to afford 5 tickets to a Rolling Stones show.

I just think it has to pain someone who fights and fights just to fail commercially to have to watch some one like Axl.

Also, the people who want the old band back are usually narrow-minded "ROCK AND ROCK ONLY!" idiots.

thats absurd, millions would rather have the old GNR back, from casual rock fans, to the diehard fans, etc, most of those who are even aware of the new lineup think its a joke, I love the orig. lineup and the new GNR songs Maddy, Blues, IRS, and Chi Dem but whenever I mention the current GNR it seems like I always get a laugh about how lame Axl's image, his hired replacements, and his inability to release any new material. The VMA's were a disaster for Axl, most likely forever tainting the Guns N' Roses name

what?LMAO!  Narrow minded? So millions of old GNR fans are narrow minded for wanting back the band responsible for an array of incredible songs(WTTJ,SCOM,ParCity,NovRain,DontCry,etc) ? the select few who prefer the new GNR based on the small number of live bootlegs they've heard or the disastrous tour are the narrow minded ones.

I dont think Axl will ever play w/ Matt again, called him an albatross among other things, Matt has probably talked the most shit about Axl among the ex members

Top 3 reasons Axl has a problem :
1) and his inability to release any new material
2) and his inability to release any new material
3) and his inability to release any new material
