Ground control to Major Tom

« on: May 03, 2005, 01:59:41 PM »

The US has a Government agency dedicated to preserving classic recordings.? They store the original masters of nominated recordings so that they will always be available to future generations.?
Since 2002 they have inducted albums like: Sgt. Peppers, Born to Run, Tapestry, Nevermind, and The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan among others.

This is their website
http://www.loc.gov/rr/record/nrpb/nrpb-nrr.html

From this site you can view a list of all the albums as well as the criteria the albums must meet to be eligible.
Not all of the albums are listed on the full registry so look at the years 02,03, and 04 to see every album that's included.

The most interesting part is that you can nominate albums to be preserved.? I nominated AFD and you should too.
