Chinese Democracy isn't going to create very many new fans, besides the lame asses who buy it because its the cool thing of the moment. I'l tell you what CD release will do: Its gonna cause every single person who ever liked Guns N Roses to rush out and buy the album. This will cause it to sell millions of albums its first week of release.

Lets face it, rock music sucks right now. CD will revitalize the genre.

Yes I am very optomistic.

Axl has got a massive image problem.  Being called the "howard hughes of rock" is not a compliment.  He is seen as a joke and CD is widely percieved as a massive ego trip it's going to get slammed by the critics when it does get released.

In short, i serously doubt it.  no

I think the CD is going to be really big.
Geffen are going to put a lot of money into promoting the album. It's cost so much already, so they're going to make sure it's a hit.

I heard Radio Stations were paid to play Beautiful Day when it first came back, to cause a comeback. When people hear something enough, they'll like it.

Buzz + Radio Play = Massive Hit.

I think critics will bash it no matter what to an extent in their reviews.
But there will be a lot of positive said about it by younger reviewes who have probably never even heard Guns before.

No. I think the phrase means the first person has dealt with the second person with all their heart by now.
New fans are like the birds in the bush. Most of them are yet to know about the current band.

Maybe that is true with the haters.

Will the album really generate new fans?

Yes. for long and short.

I've seem to have noticed that as well.  The positive side of him waiting all these years is the fact that there is a whole new generation that has never experienced the "old" GNR firsthand.  It will be new to alot of the younger fans.  And the younger fans are the ones who buy albums and go to concerts.  I think the album will sell great.  The majority of the asses in the seats at concerts will be new fans.  If I was Axl I'd be excited about unleashing this album.  The time is right.

Yeah, I am sure that there was a real scientifically based study indicating that indeed, 60% of GNR fans became so after 1998.  That's perhaps the stupidest thing I've heard on here....and that is saying something.
