i thought gn'r was ready for launch right around rir4, but then it never happened....? seems like they've waited for vr and contraband to have it's run.... maybe....
Well then in that case they gotta worry about VR's second album due out in December? ok

Dont get me wrong VR is a good band but if Axl was to release CD VR would definently push back their release date

I'm of the opinion that VR would want to steal some of Axls thunder.

I can see them wanting to ride the GnR bandwagon but I don't think Scott could handle all the GnR comparisons and tolerate the press when they compare his album and his "different" lyrics.  There is no way VR would release an album the same time GnR is Releasing CD.  I could understand them releasing an album after their greatest hits, as they are riding the bandwagon, but they would only loose by trying to ride the CD wagon, because if CD is great VR will be over shadowed. If by some slim chance in hell CD is not great to the press, VR will have nothing to ride

whats to say VRs next album is not great also and wouuldn't require the like of CD to ride on?
I for one think theres a great album lurking in the VR canon and their second one could well be it..

because he has never given a release date himself or issued a public statement claiming CD is finished.

That's not a release date, nor a public statement claiming CD is finished.

But it sure as hell put a timeline on it now didn't it?

"We will" is not the same as "we might".

The summer which he was refering to has long since passed.

Bands tour with new material to promote an album.

the following summer he was referring to was 2002. They did play shows again in 2002. So I guess he was right  Wink

In August 2002, Axl said : "It's time to wrap up the baby."

Read the gnronline interview, it is full of things that never happened... Sad

So those 4 songs are supposed to be the "whole bunch" of new songs he was talking about?

Oh well.

VR will not push back a release date because Axl is finally putting out some music. If anything, that is the perfect time to release another album and play up on the publicity.

If anyone would get spooked about a VR release date around the same time of CD it would be Axl. You think Scott flies off the handle about GNR comparissons, just wait until Axl is asked about Slash and VR in every single interview he ever does. The guy will lose his mind.....or just stop talking to people. At which point the media will stop promoting him or GNR if he won't talk to them.
