VR Duel Disc-worth getting?

For anyone who has it:
1. Is the CD side remastered? Does it sound better in any way?
2. On the DVD side, can you play the album on most regular CD players? How does it sound?
3. What are the extras, and are they any good?

Why remaster an album that was only mastered last year ?
Remastering is usually to cope with the fact that a) old equipment was used, and b) new stereo's can cope with better sound frequencies etc than old ones. c) of course is to crispen the quality.
Contraband is fine as it is.
And yes, I'll be buying it... mainly because my copy just got a huge scratch and wont play! :|

DVD SIDE: * Entire album in enhanced LPCM Stereo * Music Videos for "Slither" and "Fall to Pieces" * Previously unreleased clips from TV Teaser campaign * Photo gallery of exclusive promo pics

When and where is this disc coming out? I love VR but I must criticize repeated releases of the same record in one year. It was okay to release it with different covers, but then they release it again with a bonus disc of three B side songs, and now the same album re-released a third time with a bonus DVD? Give the fans' wallets a break.

I really don't think anyone in the band is re-releasing the album for a third time for the money. I think they are doing it for the prestiage of having a multiple platinum cd. ALthought they are not forcing anyone to buy it again they are making it so tempting for their fans. Its the same thing Usher did, He had 2 remizes of his last cd and that pushed his album to over 7x platinum. Instead of another release of Contraband I would prefer a DVD concert of them and I think most of the VR fans would agree on that.

yes i'm DYING for a concert or two to be released.
Or maybe I'll just find some bootlegs.
I'd love to see some of those club shows from may-june 2004 on DVD. They were so nuts.

I bought it and it was a huge letdown.
Let's review:
CD AUDIO SIDE: Entire Album- Big deal
DVD SIDE:
Entire album in enhanced LPCM Stereo-So what? Who would want to listen to the album via their TV?
Music Videos for "Slither" and "Fall to Pieces"-That was cool
Previously unreleased clips from TV Teaser campaign- This is really stupid. They play clips of "Slither" and have snapshots of the band.
Photo gallery of exclusive promo pics-There are only four or five pics. And so what? What's so great about that?
They should have given interviews, behind the scenes at the making of "Contraband" or some unreleased songs. It's a total rip-off.

I got this album, and it's a rip off.
I might not have the greatest stereo system on earth, but I'm not sure if I heard a difference between this and the regular album. When you watch a DVD with DTS sound, you can "feel" the difference. This didn't have any effect like that on me.
As mentioned above, the photo gallery was a waste.
Seems like another cheap marketing tool for record companies to sell the same album with a new label, "Dualdisc". It sounds cool, but it's a rip off.

Thankyou RichardNixon and Jarmo for the feedback on the Duel Disc. I was waiting to see what people thought of it before deciding to buy it or not. Looks like I'll pass on this one.

I gotta ask Jarmo, why would you even bother picking it up? What did you expect?
And Im not being mocking, I honestly would like to know what made you think it was worth buying (especially since you didnt like the album much)?

I didn't pick it up, I got it for free.
If it indeed had sounded better and had lots of extra stuff, then maybe I would've sounded more positive.
But I can't recommend it to anybody.

They should have at least included the three extra bonus songs(or five if you include Bodies and Money). 3 releases of the same album within a years time...kinda lame.
Makes it harder to call them "rock n roll"

but whu shouldn't they do that? just because you are stupid and will buy it even if you have 2 other releases of the same album? maybe there are some people who haven't bought the album and now will buy this release and they will be happy to have thoes bonuses...

I bought that piece of crap only for the videos. The so-called "visual preview" of contraband doesn't make any sense. Don't forget the photo gallery with only 3 pics!!!

The bonus DVD stuff is lame, but what's great about it is you can make a CDR copy.

I don't know if anyone has this problem with the VR dual disc (as I didnt buy it) But I did buy the new Judas Priest album that is a dual disc and it worked like 4 times in my car and now it wont work at all. It's a stupid concept as now you have two siodes of a cd/dvd to scratch and even taking it in and out of the case can be hard. The only benefit of a dual disc is that the cds will scratch sooner causing you to buy a second copy.
