It's better to burn out than to fade away...
My Axl Rose Misadventure
«

Being a first-year university student, I tend to get into a lot of wacky drunken misadventures. But a couple weeks ago, I got myself in a situation that bears retelling for a Guns N' Roses message board. It's like this.
I have a tendency of doing Axl's snake dance whenever I get drunk. Indeed, ever since the first time I did this (to "Sweet Child O' Mine" while clad in an 80s hair rocker costume) the people on my floor are always urging me to do it whenever we go and party. This one night, I went to a kegger where the theme was "The Jungle". Now, I didn't have enough time to get together a real costume, so I just took a bandana. That way, whenever people asked me, "where's your costume?", I could whip out the bandana, put it on, and screech, "YOU KNOW WHERE YOU ARE, BABY?! YOU'RE IN THE JUNGLE! YOU'RE GONNA DIEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!" It seemed popular.
After having consumed several drinks, it then got to the point where Guns N' Roses came on the stereo. As soon as I heard the opening chords to "Welcome to the Jungle", I put on the bandana and not only did the snake dance, but also screamed along with all the lyrics in my best Axl Rose squawk. After that, I did the same thing to "Sweet Child O' Mine", in which I also did the most spastic air guitar solo you've ever seen. Somewhere in the course of this, I lost my shirt and then somebody took my pants off for some reason. Anyway, I finished off with a rousing rendition of "November Rain", using a computer keyboard as my grand piano.
It was only after finishing this crowd-pleasing performance that I looked up to discover that somebody had been filming me the whole time.
So the point of this story is: if sometime in the next while, you hear of a "Star Wars Kid"-type video clip circulating on the internet where some drunken college student does the most insane Axl Rose impression you've ever seen...you know where it came from.

Thats pretty damn funny man.
As an easily influenced teenager being a guns fan I got into all sorts of trouble subconciously imitating Axl. Getting into fights saying things like ' shutup or I'll put you on the pavement' then going oh shit when they started throwing punches, or walking into a room full of cute young girls whilst wearing tight red shorts...the room going quiet until my brother goes 'hey nice package Dave'....followed by howls of nervous teenage female giggling.
I too used to do the snake dance when drunk. Didnt go down too well at the Goth/Industrial club I used to frequent....but then neither did the candyman suit I wore sometimers just to ruffle feathers. 'Oh my god he's not wearing black'....snobs with no sense of humor....and all of them hated GNR.

I absolutely loved that story Mattman, I hope that's real! I'm 30 years old now, and I can still remember those days like it was yesterday.

I don't have the footage of me in the bandana, although I know that video file is circulating somewhere. However, I do have a clip of me doing the snake dance to "Sweet Child O' Mine" at another party. In this other clip, I'm wearing a ripped t-shirt, spandex pants, aviator sunglasses and a giant Nikki Sixx wig, which only helps serve the mood. Unfortunately, I don't know how to upload video files.

Oh man, I wrote a religion test last week and opened it with a Guns n' Roses quote, and made my thesis based on it. Didn't get a bad mark either.

That was hilarious. I used to have a pair of leggings like Stevie Adler when I was young, and cowboy boots with sprus. Shit I pratically thought I was a member of GN'R!

OK, now I know I have a serious problem... I'm a girl right, and half the time I dress like Axl (and when I say dress like Axl... I had someone come up to me a couple of weeks ago asking if I was Axl's daughter...), the other half, I dress like a Gn'R groupie, and my ambition is to be the world's most Gn'R obsessed pornstar...
Do I have a problem, or is it natural for nymphomaniac Gn'R fangirls to act like this?
Please help...
BTW, Mattman, I wish I'd been there when you did all that! I can't wait to find that video! I gotta see you playing the PC Piano! And I wanna see the Nikki Sixx wig!!
