Doesnt seem to be that good. If we assume that the artwork, promotion, photos etc are not yet done, then even if things do start again in late september it could still be months until it all gets sorted. They have to reherse, shoot a video, get the artwork, print the album etc.

However... how many release dates have come and gone over the years? Its possible, although unlikely that all or some of the above have already been done, or could even be done during one of the long breaks that Fortus has on the tour.

The above seems highly unlikely though, as im sure we would have heard about it. As more and more people are bought in its going to be harder to keep things so secret. I suppose its only a matter of time.

Guess we just keep waiting until September/October. Yay

Now this is getting redicilous. What are they waiting for? Will this album ever come out? I talked to Tommy myself..he expected things to gear up pretty quickly.

One thing is us, the fans, but just for how long will guys like Robin and Tommy wait for this? This is an endless time of waiting. Eventually they will leave because this album is still nowhere in sight.

Richard anounces a tour until September..that means 2005 basically gone out of the window when it comes to touring.

I have followed this band very close the past 4 years...as close as you possibly can, ask me whatever when it comes to the new GNR..I propably know it.

But this is way too much...at least Velvet Revolver can release an album and tour. Even Motley Crue with Vince Neil and Tommy Lee find time to join up and tour..even make a record!

I have my fair share of patience, but if nothing happens in 2005 then my patience has run out. End of story.

Good Question. I came home from Uni a few days ago and was reading through some old guns articles from old magazines. The thing that stood out the most were the comments made by Moby. After spending some time producing the album he told Axl that he had a finished album and should release it. That was back in 1999!!!

I just think Axl is a perfectionist, its like the editor of Rolling Stone said in Behind the Music. He is aiming at some sort of mythical perfection that just might not be achievable. He must think he has finished songs, go to bed, wake up listen to them again and realise there is something that needs changing, does it, goes to bed, wakes up, listens again then changes something else. Over and over. There is nothing wrong with this, he just needs to quit.  Im sure the finished product, if we ever get there is going to be amazing.

There could also be something we dont know about, something that is stopping Axl releasing the CD that hasnt got out into the public domain. Possibly to do with Clear Channel or even with Slash Duff etc. Maybe Axl wants to wipe the slate clean, get all his legal problems out of the way so he can get up on stage with the new material with a clear mind and put 150% into his performance. That of course means waiting until after November when the Slash/Duff case hopefully gets resolved.

I just really hope this CD doesnt become one of those great lost albums.

What the fuck, I never really cared about the delays, but now its just insane...Dizzy and Tommy said they were looking for November of 2004, then they said February 2005, I dont know what could possibly be holding this album up.

Jack White just wrote, recorded, mixed and got a release date for an album in 20days.

Well? So what? This is about waiting for the album. Read every god damn rumour on the internet, and discuss on the message board!
No one said thay would give up the music! Just concidering forget about all the rumours and do other things that could make some more sence!
So? Do you think that its only the people who "today" are fallowing the rumours on the net who will buy the album?

I don`t  understand ( like the rest of us) why it is taking so long and why so many missed rumored release dates?

Axl should hold a press conference for the fans at this point.

No thats not what I think I'm just saying that, even though you are saying you have no more patience, you (like me and many others here I'm sure) will probably still know all the rumors and still wait for the album to come out, and when it is finally released that you will buy it ASAP.

I gave up on any rumored dates long ago. When its gonna come we will hear something from Axl. If we don't hear from him then it ain't coming out yet. I'll still remain skeptical even after I hear official news. The only time I'm gonna beleive is when the fuckin' thing is in my hands. I have quite a few friends who still like GnR but they don't follow the rumors like me. They always make fun of me for following GnR still and trust me, I have taken part in Axl bashing myself, from frustration, of course. I mean come on how fucking long does it take to record an album for fucks sakes.

Hell, the band Down (Featuring Phil and Rex from Pantera and Pepper Keenan fron Corrosion of conformity) wrote, recorded and released their second album, "A bustle in Your HEdgerow" in less than a month, and the album fucking RULES!!! its not super heavy like you may think, more like a southern rock feel (In fact I highly recommend it, "Stained Glass Cross" is the best song from it, IMO).

Anyway my point is if they can record an album so fast, why the fuck can't one of the biggest rock bands ever do it? But it's just Axl's way and none of us is gonna make him release the damn thing before he's ready so why stress over it? I just come here every day and hope to see an official announcement and when I do I'll be excited. But until then I just laugh or shake my head at most of the topics. I got a pleasant surprise when I heard the IRS leak so that was cool, it sounds like a decent song too, which is reassuring. But, whatever, I didn't mean to offend, sorry.

I guess we can only hope for a xmas release (that's possible imo).
But I think 2006 is more realistic :/

I'm getting tired of this shit. Every year the same procedure.

That's very unlikely because on the release of the album will directly follow a tour. That's impossible if any members are touring till the end of the year.

what is directly following though? the next day?? unlikely.  what is a month or two following the release? Hype will be surrounding the single not a tour (if so desired). when they are ready to tour the Shit will hit the fan. I don't understand why people are saying no album 2005 when it's not even 25% over yet. (I try to remain a little optimistic Smiley )

Call me crazy, but I think part of being a good manager is sometimes telling and pushing you're clients to do things they may not want to do, if it is in thier best interest. Sanctuary and Universal should be pushing Axl to release a record NOW...I get the feeling Merck just takes Axl's checks and only tells him what he wants to hear....I wonder if he does that with every band he manages... (I doubt it)
I'm willing to bet that the band members not managed by Sanctuary are hearing from their own camps that it will probably be in their best intere$t to bail on this if no record or tour is done this year. None of these guys (save Axl) is worth multi-millions, and there are plenty of other things they can do (drum clinics ,production, solo recrods, touring with other bands) that may end up being more lucrative.
And it looks like from responses in this thread, even the hardcore internet Axl-ites are getting fed up. Hey Merck, tell your client to get his ass in gear! You're about to lose big time.

P.S.: Props to Richard for getting a gig...he desreves to be out playing live...the man is insanely good ok
