'Absolutely'

« on: March 13, 2005, 03:41:46 PM »

We've all assumed that axl is holding up cd, or is going to rerecord buckethead's parts...

But what is buckethead didn't want to appear on the cd, yet axl wanted his parts. Does buckethead hold ownership over his recorded parts? could he demand they not appear on Cd thus setting the whole process back super far?

I just listened to some buckethead stuff today and no doubt he came up with some amazing stuff for the album... but if he doesn't want to be associated with the project anymore he could really fuck up the process for gnr

We don't know anything about it. It depends on the contract they had.

It's unthinkable that Axl would've agreed to let Buckethead have the rights to the parts he wrote for this album.  I just can't imagine that.

And I hope that for the fans sake Axl doesn't delete the parts that Buckethead wrote or try to have someone else come in and record them.  Just leave his parts on the album and release it because taking his parts away would hurt the quality of the album.

That's correct... but I don't think Axl would sign a contract that would put BH in position to do this, and I don't think BH would want his parts removed from the album.

Buckethead broke his contract with the group, therefore I think indirectly the ownership of his contributions to the album are in Axl's hands unless Bhead wants a lawsuit. Unless Buckethead signed a specific contract or document where it said if he walks, so does his contributions he doesnt hold any right over his parts, and even if he did do you think he would care?? He walked away from this group and no longer wants to be a part of it so why would he care to own any of the music him and the other bandmembers cohesively constructed. I think Bhead, if his parts remain will simply be listed in the credit booklet of cd or somethin..

Another point to think about is to wonder why Buckethead would demand his parts removed, being that he would forfeit any royalty money from album sales.  That wouldn't make a whole lot of sense.

Richard Fortus, the phenomenon

« Reply #7 on: March 13, 2005, 04:06:49 PM »

- I hope his guitar parts will stay on the album because Buckethead is extremely talented as a studio session player. I just hope we will not hear "shredding" guitar solos on the album. I prefer Buckethead when he doesn't shred (big sur moon, I love my parents etc...).
- However, IF his guitar parts are re-recorded, I really really think Fortus is the right guy to re-record them, not Robin.

Another point is that perhaps Buckethead surrendered his parts in exchange for not being persued by Axl/management for breach of contract.

Is there an echo in here?  I swear we've been having this same discussion in another thread.

Buckethead is in the same position as Josh Freese when it comes to the new Guns N' Roses album.  Both are very accomplished muscians that were paid a large sum of money for their contributions.  Just because they are not "in the band" anymore doesn't mean that Axl is going to replace certain parts of theirs, which could be far superior to anything re-recorded by someone else who comes along.

If memory serves me correctly, I dont believe they have however Tommy has said BHeads departure is in fact a good thing, will not hold up the process, and is not being replaced.

Like I said BH has no say in if his parts are going to be used ornot. plus Axl could sue BH for breach of contract by quitting the band right before RIR4. Dizzy or Tommy siad that BHs parts will be left on the album.

suing Buckethead right now would be really stupid on axl's part as bucket could then counter sue and say he wants his parts off the album. regardless if he won the case or not it would most certainly hold up the album for a few months while trying to get it through the court system.

axl would have to prove that bh caused a loss in income in order to receive damages from him; it would be next to impossible for axl to argue that the last ten years worth of zero output would have changed due to bucket.

I am hoping that bucket comes back; let's not worry about silly lawsuits.
