Okay... So like I said at the other thread, I've made us all a Yahoo! account were we can put our own recordings of different songs (mainly GN'R - some exceptions may occur).

Plus I've made a section for Tabs. Please do not post the same tab twice. Check first. Plus as time goes along, we may discuss about what tabs are the most correct, put the best pieces together, and delete the inaccurate ones.

Hi all, it's been a while, so I thought I'd upload something again. I took my Godfather Theme out of the briefcase, and replaced it with my guitar take on the Terminator theme.

It's a rough recording, just a rhythm track and a lead track, with slight volume swells on parts of the lead track. I think it came out OK, despite one glaringly obvious wrong note (a sloppy slip of the finger), but it's all first-take stuff so what the hell.

Anyways, have a listen and see what you think. It's in the MP3/Other folder, filename term.mp3. It's just over 2.5 Megs I think.

It's indeed a very rough recording like you said, so I will only comment on the guitarplaying. I think some parts are 'decent'. But it doesn't sound 'glued'. Sometimes I wonder why there is so much fast stuff in it. Try a bit more 'harmonic' slow stuff in it the next time and reduce the speed. Speed only impresses when it's balanced with the slow and played right. 

But since this is your first take it ain't that bad or anything. I would say take your time on it the next time to work it a little more out.

Thanks for listening man, I was thinking of re-recording it properly, and playing the full theme with arpeggiated chords before drowning the whole thing out with lead work. Hopefully I'll get time to do that soon!

It has been an issue that I'm concerned about with my playing - sometimes my phrasing just sounds quite disjointed and choppy, and sometimes it's ok. I just wish I had a bit more consistency (and time to work on it!)

1) No, I didn't try to "sound like Axl", I made my own version. I could have taken a raspy voice because I can, I can break my voice, but it would have sounded like Bruce Springsteen not like Axl Rose. So I decided not to break it, but rather to make it "clean".

Your voice needs to be developed. For starts it's definetely not bad and you can hit the notes. Which is very important. Like 'The Dirt' said you must belt the lyrics out with more power. You must sing it like it comes from the bottom of your heart. Then I think you can come pretty far with it.

Hey dude you can still pull it off. Maybe get some vocal lessons. Also just scream some times, it works. I have had experience singing some gnr. I did some sweet child. I fucking blew it but i can do it now that I have had lessons and just screamed.

   man, ur voice is wwwwwwwwikud. but u can do alot betta than that. re-record it and listen carefully 2 tempo and notes that axl does. than sing it. its a mistake that can very easily be corrected.

La justesse est au rendez vous, donc l'oreille aussi. La moiti? du travail est donc faite. Le timbre naturel de la voix est assez particulier, ce qui est important quand on veut composer, ne ressembler ? aucun autre.

Les - :
Une exploration de l'aigu qui reste limit?e, avec une utilisation sur les 3 quarts de la chanson de la m?me zone de voix (pas assez de variation de hauteur en grave comme en aigu ? mon go?t, vous vous confinez un peu trop dans votre m?dium)
Des attaques de voyelles un peu s?ches, ce qui est classique quand on n'a jamais appris ? chanter.
Une voix qui manque de projection, qui reste trop dans votre corps et qui ne va pas assez ? l'ext?rieur.
Des escaliers, ce qui est difficile ? expliquer par ?crit. Si vous voulez, c'est une note que vous vous empressez de redescendre. Ce n'est pas esth?tique et ca fatigue la voix.
Le plus gros d?faut et le plus emb?tant est que votre voix reste nasillarde. Vous placez les voyelles dans le nez plut?t que dans la cavit? buccale d'o? le probl?me de projection dont je vous ai parl? plus haut.

A ?viter : 'engorger' la voix sur la derni?re note, pour des raisons notamment esth?tiques.

Tous ceci sont des d?fauts purement techniques, des mauvaises habitudes prises, inconsciemment. Ce ne sont aussi que des d?fauts qui ressortent ? l'oreille. Cel? signifie qu'il y a peut ?tre d'autres d?fauts (respiration et posture par exemple) desquels on ne peut se rendre compte que par la vision.

J'esp?re avoir ?t? claire et pr?cise, comme vous me l'aviez demand?.

Nice! How did you get THAT sound? What equipment did you use for that one? (guitar, pickups, amp?)

Guitar: Epiphone Les Paul with Alnico's I believe
Amps: Marshall G80R CD & a Marshall 1922 underneath it
+ A Dunlop wah pedal.

The recording I did is just with a simple pc mic so much of the quality of the sound gets lost while recording it. But it's good enough for me.

@unsurper: thanks, I've bought it in a small guitarshop in the Netherlands but the shop doesn't excist anymore. I was really lucky getting that Epiphone slash signature one. They are pretty rare. That guitar does have some little flaws but that's due to me playing on it so much. The frets are a bit worn out and stuff. The duncun pickups work like a motherfucker still tho. 


@Conny: thnx mate! The guitar on the right is actually my brothers. I borrowed it a little bit. 
For the sound.... to me it doesn't really come close to the sound of Hendrix. But I don't listen all that much to Hendrix so I don't know for sure. The alnico's and the wah work great together so perhaps that's what made this sound pretty nice... Thanks for your comments!
