I'm sure he knew this would end up on the internet.? Anything for publicity.
Are you kidding me??
Probably not Booker, baitiing for sure though..
Sounds as though someone's trying to provoke an argument by diminshing Slash's 'good deed"
by portraying it as a publicity stunt.
Very typical behavior around here...
No, I'm not trying to provoke anything. I just think that people are making too big a deal of this. And if people have this kind of reaction to such a trivial thing, then it makes the whole seem like a publicity stunt.

It was obviously not a
trivial thing
to those involved, which is all that matters.
As for the
people are making too big a deal of this
comment, it's not like it's been picked up by
every major news source on the planet, it's only been reported by a small time internet music news site
and mildly discussed on a few Slash related forums..
No calls for Knighthood or Humanitarian Award nomination propaganda going on anywhere to speak of, just acknowledgement of a nice gesture...

Well, I was referring to the people on this forum making a big deal of it. Why is a nice gesture worth even mentioning?

Why is speculation on hypothetical alterior motives relating to this "good deed" worth mentioning?

No you werent. I knew you had a penchant for making things up to disrespect the ex-members, but I just assumed you had a geuninely poor memory. But apparently youve got a penchant for outright lying.
"I'm sure he knew this would end up on the internet. ?Anything for publicity."
The "he" is Slash, and you said he did what he did for publicity. ?Dont lie to back out of your claims...

A page+ of commentary and no calls for saint status would hardly constitute a big deal.? There's been more passionate conversation about your accusations of "publicity stunt" than talk of the good deed itself.

When is a positive act by someone that might make a difference in another's life not worth mentioning?

He did something nice it wound up here so what's the big deal? I seriously doubt he would do something like that to get some leak on the net of websites that people already like or dislike the person.. I'm sure tons of shit happen like little things that make people's day that we never hear about.. Nice to hear something positive..

Hmm. Surely you guys can understand kind of where A Fan is coming from? I'm not suggesting Slash did it for publicity, and yeah...it was a really nice thing to do, but I don't think something as simple as that shows Slash is such a great person blah blah blah (not to say that he isn't, of course). I think the main thing people can learn from it is that it's so easy to do a nice, little good deed for someone else, that can have a huge positive effect.

a lot more on this forum is far more insignificant than this... so what's the problem? one small thread isn't 'making a big deal' out of it. it's merely mentioning it.

Oh come on people, you seriously think Slash did this because he wanted to generate some positive publicity? Seriously?
I'm sure it had nothing to do with his own experiences with drug addiction ...

Jesus Christ...
Some of you people just cannot have
anything
good said about the ex-members of GNR.
Let me put it to you this way.
How many requests do you think Slash and other celebs get a month to visit sick kids or donate money or time to the million worthy causes out there?
How many wack jobs do you think come up to Slash to ask for autographs, advice, money, guitar tricks, record deals, support slots, jobs...etc.?
The guy took a phone and offered advice to a young person who obviously needed it to come from someone she greatly admired.
Job well done.
To think he was doing it because maybe by chance it'll get on the internet to make you Slash haters think differently about him.....
News Flash:
Slash doesn't give a hot fuck that a few of you out there in Axl Land hate his guts. He didn't do this good deed as some way to get back into your hearts, you are simply not that important to him, none of us are. He's a famous rock star, he's better things to do.
Unbelievable.

It's a bit sad really if you question the merit behind a good gesture. As people have already pointed out, he doesn't think about *oh what of this gets on the net* Or *this will be good for my profile*.
Bull shit. You need to get out more if you think every rock star is constantly thinking about the internet fans opinions on everything they do - they wouldn't ever do anything if they were! They don't give a shit what you or I think. They are out there living it.
I have read many many Slash interviews and watched many and have met him. And i can say that Slash is a such cool guy and is not the type to cause a big fuss about every thing he does. I didn't even know he played on the "RAY" film soundtrack untill i read it in the Guitar mag this week.
This constant bitching and over reaction to things by those who believe they have to play a part in this VS thing. It's total bull shit.
