Saw this over on melodicrock.com (thanks, Andrew!): SLASH TAKES TIME TO ANSWER A FAN PLEA FOR HELP:The following story is brought to you with great pleasure. A long time contact of mine in LA sent this through today - eager to pass on his experience with the legendary Velvet Revolver/ex-Guns N Roses guitarist Slash. My friend writes: "I was eating at Casa Vega restaurant in Sherman Oaks, Los Angeles yesterday with my best friend. I was trying to cheer her up because her 19 year old daughter has a serious substance abuse problem and won't listen to anyone. Sitting at the table next to us was Slash from Velvet Revolver/Guns 'n' Roses, with his small child. After a little debate as if we should bother Slash, she asked him to please call her daughter on her cell phone because he obviously had beaten whatever demons he had in the past and maybe the kid would listen to him. Without hesitation Slash asked my friend a couple of questions and left a message for her on the daughters' phone. The daughter has not been answering her phone or returning calls. The daughter returned the calls today and had the first pleasant conversation with her mom in ages. Growing up the mom and daughter's signature song was Sweet Child 'o' Mine by Gun's 'n' Roses. My friend who doesn't cry much shed several tears yesterday. With all the negative publicity "Rock Stars" get I thought this story should be told. The fact that we bothered someone who was trying to enjoy a peaceful Saturday lunch with his child and he didn't hesitate a bit in any way. He showed actual concern and compassion for the situation. This may have been the turning point in a change for the better. Thanks to Slash for something we will NEVER forget."

That was a real cool thing to do. I know if I was strugglin' with drugs, and Slash leaved a message on my phone saying that I should stop or whatever, that would help me a lot, so this was an awsome thing to do !

I'm serious. And even if he didn't think it would end up on the 'net, I think people are making too big a deal of it. Like, Slash is a hero just because he called someone.

Are you kidding me?? Probably not Booker, baitiing for sure though.. Sounds as though someone's trying to provoke an argument by diminshing Slash's 'good deed" by portraying it as a publicity stunt. Very typical behavior around here...
