Who should produce the follow-up to Contraband?
«

I know alot of people on this board were posting about hating the production josh abraham did with contraband so who would you think would be a good choice to produce the next one since there is already talk of it? Mike Clink could be a possibility. Slash must like him since he had him do the first Snakepit album and Matt is working with him now on the camp freddy stuff. I doubt Scott would want that tho. Heres a fucking idea....how about Izzy? Izzy produced alot of his own shit. Other suggestions aren't really coming to mind at the moment. Anyone with ideas or preferences fuckin post em!

I doubt they'll let Izzy produce it, he'd probably produce it and tell V.R that they can't promote or tour for the album except in Japan ?
From interviews with Slash regarding V.R it seemed as though there was conflict between Izzy and Weiland
?

Get the guy that produced the Silvertide album, Show and Tell. I love the production on that album. It has that live sound they are looking for.

Either Mike Clink, Bob Rock or Rick Rubin...This guy is amazing...The other two slipknot albums sucked except for the one he produced

Velvet Revolver should do something ballsy with their next LP. Take chances, expand their sound, take pride in their work and make a "RAW" rock n roll album. The sound and production was awful on the last one. I hope this album will be there Tiny Music record..thats such a good album.

Rick Rubin
I dig Rick as well, but his reputation for for "not being around" during sessions grows by the day.
With his increasing "mogul" status, he tends to tag himself with "Executive Producer" status while letting his minion, George Drakoulias handle day to day production.
I'd like to see the guys go with Steve Jones, but I doubt the formal Pistol would be game.? I think he's quite happy with his Hollywood patriarch reputation and everything that entails.
I had no problem with Abraham, he's got a good ear for what's current and has a nice feel for capturing his artists in a very "less is more" vibe.

Rick Rubin would be good. I would say Bob Rock, but I don't think he would be right for VR's material and their wish to be a "raw rock 'n' roll band". He would be great if they were trying to make a commercial hard rock record, but none of us can forget the atrocity that resulted when Rock recorded a "raw" album (
St. Anger
).
I always liked the early "Mutt" Lange records, like AC/DC's
Highway to Hell
or
Back in Black
, and Def Leppard's
High 'n' Dry
, but everything after that was basically too sugary and overproduced (even if Def Leppard's subsequent records were great, they're too saccharine for VR's style).
I guess I'll go with Rick Rubin. He's an old standby for producing really good aggressive music.

Roy Z , who did a damn good job on the new Judas Priest album. And along with Roy I think that VR should also help produce it.

Anyone but Josh Abraham. As much as I love their music, CB sounds soo polished and dull.

Mike Clink would be awesome, I've always loved his work on Rust In Peace (Megadeth). Speaking of Megadeth, Dave Mustaine would make an awesome producer (not gonna happen, I know ...).
