Hey, do you guys remember me when I was Acid Rain and about last October, I created a thread called Get Out Of My House! Well, something similar has now happened.

I don't live with my sister anymore for those that remember but I still live pretty close. My sister was not even arguing or didn't do anything, she was just trying to sleep on the couch. So, this boyfriend of hers, drags her from the living room and into the hallway. He then goes into the kitchen and turns off the light. He comes back out with a knife. (He turned off the light so she coulden't see what he was doing.) He then dragged her into the bedroom. I don't know the rest, all I know is he didn't hurt her or anything.

Of course, he was really drunk, but this is a continuing process.

So, she's staying with me and my other sister now and he can't seem to understand what he did wrong.

I think they'll really break up this time, but who knows?

At this point, you really start to get tired of these events and having to drop everything for your sister.

I don't know, what do you guys think?

Okay, good news. The law finally prevailed.

He had a court date yesterday at about 10:00 A.M. They already had this incident of pulling a knife on my sister on his record and they charged him with aggravated assault. The judge demanded that he stay away from my sister.

So, he's not living at my sister's house anymore.

I can't tell you how happy I am.

Ok, so when he comes back around, apologizing to her, will she call the police?  I assume there's a restraining order, but its up to her to get it enforced.

I'm sorry to say this, but statistics are not in her favor.  Most women who get in these type of relationships don't get out for years and years, if ever.

However, she is carrying his child. That's the only thing that really pissed me off yesterday.

My sister's boyfriend is going to get jail-time and I don't know how much he'll get but I'll keep you guys posted.

How long is she into her pregnancy with their child?

She's about 6 weeks. She's had 3 pregnancies before and they've all been abortions, so if successful, this one will be her 1st child.

I read what you said about your sister not being "a statistic"... and I get that... but, please understand, that I'm not speaking from a 'statistical' perspective, but of a mind that has been there before. 

Generally speaking, abusive relationships don't start out that way.  The abuse starts slowly, subliminally, and it builds gradually, all the while, the abuser becoming the dominant and the one being abused becomes subordinate, feeling small and weak, and unable to stand on their own.  This is further perpetuated with mental abuse, the dominant one bringing the  subordinate down further, until the subordinate feels they cannot live without the dominant.

This is why the one being abused keeps taking their abuser back into their life, because they don't feel strong enough to be alone.  They don't feel worthwhile enough without their abuser.  It's a very co-dependent type of relationship. 

Your sister being pregnant further complicates it, because she is going to feel very alienated and alone, and pregnancy is no time to feel that way, with all the additional hormonal changes going on. 

I recommend you get your sister to a counselor ASAP... or at least to a CODA meeting.  Get her help, and attend with her if you have to.  Without help, I can guarantee without a doubt when he gets out of jail, he'll be back in her house.   

She is on what I call a victim's cycle...  even if he doesn't re-enter her life at some point, she will find another abuser, if she doesn't break that cycle.  To do that, she needs the affirmation that professional help can give her.  A person CAN do it themselves, but it's very difficult.  It takes a lot of inner will and strength, and when a person is pregnant, you don't have that.

It's nice to see there are some men out there thinking the same lines as I do.

And there's some things I can't live with, like when my boss tried to humiliate me in front of my co-workers I told him he went too far and quit. So I'm 3 days without a job and start a new next monday.
