I was listening to 'Liar' by the Sex Pistols and realised that the intro is pretty much identical to the intro to It's So Easy (including the bit when the drums kick in).

I was wondering how much of a fan of their's Duff is (I read that he wore a padlock round his neck to emulate Sid Vicious).

Was this similarity co-incidental, or Duff paying tribute?

I've never really thought about the similarity before but now you mention it i think there is a conection between the two.

I think all the old GNR guys are/were big Pistols fans at the time and you have to remember that at the time of the release of AFD the Pistols record was only ten years old and was still causing a wave of influence over anyone who heard it for the first time.  Same as it does today really.

I've noticed that before as well, I'd like to think it's more of an homage than a blatant rip off.

"Never Mind The Bollocks" is easily the most important record of my lifetime

As said above, still causing a "wave of influence". beer

Yeah Sex Pistols rule! It's to cool for school that Duff ended up playing with Steve Jones in Neurotic Outsiders smoking

I once read someone going on about how the beginning of Mr Brownstone sounds just like another song, that I cannot remember the name of right now (sorry).

Also, if you?ve heard the bootleg of November Rain (Guitar version) it sounds just like Rod Stewarts I am Sailing.

Yeah I heard something like that. I think quite a lot of drumming parts sound a bit like that intro.
