What happened to "No matter what!!!" ?
There will be more dates but I'm not positive if Australia will be included. The new CD and the dates that have been announced all came together pretty quickly. He just finished his last tour on November 22.

It's all about greetings from asbury park. Spirit in the Night is one of the best songs ever written.
Has anyone got the 30th Anniversary edition of Born To Run? It's really worth picking up.

I am prolly the biggest Springsteen-fan roaming these boards...
Last year, the Devils & Dust tour was fantastic, I watched him in Gothenburg with my girlfriend.
I also come from a small town, having my car, patching it up, racing in the streets. I?m living my life, Springsteen style.
Lots of things he sings about really reflects my life, and I?m only 23...

Im a fanatic Bruce fan.. He's the only artist / band Im a bigger fan of than GN'R actually..
I've seen him on 1 show only though, but I'll see him this summer!
My favourite songs at the moment: (By Bruce)
* Thunder Road (Always!)
* Lost in the flood. (Because of the great version on the 30th year ann.DVD for the Born to run release.
* Its hard to be a saint in the city. (Same as above)
* The Promise (!)
* Spirirt in the night
* Streets of Philadelphia..
Great to see other Springsteen fans at this board!!

Where did you ever get the inspiration forsuch a great topic??
One of the last succesful songwriters that havent resorted to nostalgia tours at this point. Still writes relavent and fresh songs. I've seen him live on the Born In the USA tour in 86(?), the E-Street Band Reunion Tour(99) and the most recent solo/acoustic(mostly) tour in support of "Devils and Dust". Each show had completely different vibes, but all of them made me leave the venue feeling that I just witnessed something special.
Everyone knows his big hits, I kind of like the more obscure ones myself:
1. Stolen Car
2. Dream Baby Dream
3. Back In Your Arms
4. Trapped
5. Tougher Than The Rest
6. Happy
7. You're Missing
8. Drive All Night
9. Downbound Train
10. Reason To Believe
You have to listen to "The Fever." Just a great song. So emotional. I devoted the song to an old girlfriend.

Best Lyrics Ever
Red Headed Women
Well brunettes are fine man
And blondes are fun
But when it comes to getting the dirty job done
I'll take a red headed woman
A red headed woman
It takes a red headed woman
To get a dirty job done
Well listen up stud
Your life's been wasted
Til you've got down on your knees and tasted
A red headed woman
A red headed woman
It takes a red headed woman
To get a dirty job done
Tight skirt, strawberry hair
Tell me what you've got baby, waiting under there
Big green eyes that look like, son
They can see every cheap thing that you ever done
Well I don't care how many girls you've dated, man
But you ain't lived till you've had your tires rotated
By a red headed woman
A red headed woman
It takes a red headed woman
To get a dirty job done[/i]

I never used to like The Boss. I'm still not a huge fan of his most popular songs. I love his folk songs though, totally Dylan-influenced. He has some great songs out there. Aside from the slower, more relaxed ones, I love Murder Incorporated. Great song with powerful lyrics. Also, not many people know it, but he penned the song Blinded By The Light (popularized by Mannfred Mann's Earth Band) and did a great version of it.

I love blinded by the light!!!!! You're right he was being hailed as the next Bob Dylan!!!
I love Blinded by the Light and Spirit in the Night, I think both show the Dylan-ness!

I forget the exact quote but Bruce said this once
When I was growing up, I wanted to play guitar like Hendrix. I wanted to write songs like Bob Dylan. But I wanted to sing like Roy Orbison.

Hes very under rated as a guitarist. I'm not trying to say he is in the Top 10 or anything but if you see him live he absolutely rocks out on the guitar. It would be nice to see that transfer to a studio effort.

I think for him its more about making his music so it gets the amazing emotion and lyrics through.

Well the one thing with him, whether he is playing with the E Street Band or solo you will not hear the same song live that was on the album. After playing a song for 30 years things need to be done differently to keep it interesting for the band as well as the fans.
The last tour for Devils and Dust, a majority of the songs where almost unrecognizable until a chorus was reached. I didnt even realize he played Born In The USA until I saw the setlist the next day.

I have Born in the USA and Born to Run albums. Both are great to listen to, and very uplifting. And I always get a kick out of seeing the young Courtney Cox in the video for Dancing in the Dark
But, at the risk of sounding weird, I have to say even though I like Bruce and his music, I cant relate to him, but I wish I could. He just seems to be an all American apple pie guy with no flaws or faults...I wish I could be like that too.

I could understand that for the Born In the USA album, but not Born To Run or anyother for that matter. There are some pretty dark songs on there if you follow the lyrics.
It could be more because of how the media portrays him actually.
His last 3 studio albums over the last 11 years or so have all featured songs that focus more on him playing a character or singing about a character. 99 percent of these characters have some major flaws that they are either just learning to deal with, or have become resigned to having the rest of their lives.
