Bruce Springsteen To Rock Super Bowl Halftime

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band will play the halftime slot at the Super Bowl in Tampa, Fla., snagging the spot at the most-watched musical event of the year, according to the organizers.

This year, more than 148 million viewers in the U.S. watched Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers play at the championship game of American football, the National Football League said yesterday (Sept. 28).

Finally a reason to actually watch halftime.

Well considering the state of the music business. They've done pretty good the last few years..

A NIGHT WITH THE JERSEY DEVIL
Dear Friends and Fans,

If you grew up in central or south Jersey, you grew up with the "Jersey Devil." Here's a little musical Halloween treat. Have fun!

Bruce Springsteen

Lyrics:

A Night With The Jersey Devil
by Bruce Springsteen / Robert Jones / Gene Vincent

Hear me now!
I was born 13th child, 'neath the 13th moon
Spit out hungry and born anew
Daddy drag me to the river tie me in rocks
Throw me in where it's deep and wide
I go down, I don't die
Hole in the river bottom, I crawl through
Come back kill six brothers and sisters, kill papa too
Sway down Mama, sway down low
They gonna know me wherever I go

Into my bed with her kerosene my mama creep
Set my flesh to burning, whilst I sleep
I burn, burn, burn, till my soul burn black
Black rains fall, I come back, I come back
Get down Mama, get down low
They gonna know me wherever I go

16 witches, cast 16 spells
Make me guitar outta skin and human skull
Sing you a song like the wind in the sandy loam
Bring you baby out'cha your happy home

Ram's head, forked tail, clove hoof, love's my trail
I sup on your body, sip on your blood like wine
Out world theirs, this world mine
So kiss me baby till it hurts
God lost in heaven, we lost on earth
Sway down Mama, sway down low
They gonna know me wherever I go
Wherever I go, wherever I go

Well I got a brand new lover
I love her yes I do,
She's my one and only and her name is Baby Blue...

I grew up on the Jersey shore and we all knew about the Jersey Devil.

Bruce stole Bo Diddley's  "I'm A Man" without any shame.

I just love the Boss! My parents do too, they have seen him many times, since back in the 80's i believe, but I haven't had the oppurtunity yet, even though he comes here pretty often- he just loves Sweden  Grin

Having completed his work with the Barack Obama presidential campaign, Bruce Springsteen is returning to the studio to work on his new album.  During a six-song show in Cleveland, The Boss debuted a new song called "Workin' On A Dream".  The song is expected to appear on his next album, an album which is expected to be released in time for Obama's inauguration in January.

I wonder if it will be a bruce solo album or with the e street band. If its with the band it sure will be weird knowing Dan Federici won't be on it.

It's with the ES band Wink

And both The Wrestler song and movie are beyond amazing. I know my screen name says it all but I admire Mickey Rourke and this movie is a blessing.

I hope the band tours in support of this album. I'm not sure they will though since they just ended a long tour this past summer.

Bruce Springsteen unfurls busy tour slate

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, who are coming off of a packed 2008 schedule, won't be slowing things down in 2009. Springsteen's camp today (1/27) released a schedule that includes 23 North American and 18 overseas stops. Tickets for most North American shows will go on sale Feb. 2; details are in the itinerary below.

The tour, which gets underway April 1 in San Jose, CA, supports the new album from Springsteen and the E Street Band, "Working on a Dream," which hit stores today. The North American leg concludes in Springsteen's home base of New Jersey, with May 21 and 23 gigs at East Rutherford's Izod Center.

The international dates get underway May 30 at Holland's Pink Pop fest, and conclude Aug. 2 in Spain.

"Working on a Dream," the follow up to 2007's platinum-certified "Magic," is Springsteen's 24th album. The set--his fourth to feature producer Brendan O'Brien behind the knobs--features 12 new Springsteen compositions and two bonus tracks.

Springsteen's new album and tour will get a huge promotional boost on Feb. 1, when he performs during the halftime show at Super Bowl XLIII in Tampa, FL.

The Boss made another high-profile appearance during the inaugural festivities for President Barack Obama when he teamed with U2, Stevie Wonder, Garth Brooks and other big-name acts for a free, inaugural-kickoff concert in Washington, DC.

WTF? No Dallas? What's with bands skipping Dallas so much in recent years? Pearl Jam, Metallica and now Bruce.
