Quote
I think Slash is talking out of his ass.   Slash didn't talk about Axl this much when he was in the band, for Christ's sake.  This guy used to be my favorite member of the band, and now he cries and whines like Jose Canseco.  He should shut up and be happy with the fact that people are buying that glossy turd that he just dropped.

Amen Shoeboy017.  The way I see it is that Slash would go back in GNR in a second if Axl would want him back.  I used to respect Slash and he was my favourite too.  But now.  I only see him as a whining b*tch and a liar.

In January 2005, Slash gave a brief interview on the UK's Virgin Radio.  The most interesting part came when the DJ asked whether Axl had contacted Slash to congratulate him on the success of VR.  Slash replied that he had not spoken to Axl personally.  But, talking to a 'mutual friend', he had learned Axl's reaction to Contraband.  Axl does, apparently, wish that 'he had produced' the album.  The DJ then quipped 'yeah, release date 2010', and Slash laughed.

What Axl meant by this is anyone's guess.  Was he admiring the album, and wishing he had been involved?  Or was he critising it, saying that he could have produced it better?

Despite assuming that Slash is telling the truth (not a certainty), the story gains credibility because the reaction is neither too positive or negative.  Any thoughts:  revealing, or b/s?

The interview can he heard at
>http://www.virginradio.co.uk/music/artists/velvet_revolver/index.html.

Unless he makes a step forward to show the past is past and all...

He could well think it's good work.

Why would one want to produce an album unless that person were sure it was going to work out and that their money wouldn't be " lost" ?

I think it's a compliment and that some of you are completely paranoid.

Whereas his new stuff isnt as popular hes getting pretty pissed.

thats coz his new stuff is crap....

well if you dont like it thats your opinion.. but answer something for me.. what the hell are you doing at a gnr board if you dont like the new guns n roses.. seriously, why would you be posting here?  too be a nuisance or tool?

but back to the topic.. i believe this is just $lash trying to draw more lame attention to his sorry ass.   If axl said that, its because he knows $lash and Duff are more talented then what they did on Contraband.. the most mediocre album of 2004.   He probably thinks they are wasting their talent.

Oh my goodness. GnR fans are more insane than the actual members. Slash mentioning the word 'AXL' helps him market Contraband. Because 2 million copies is not good. Is this a joke?

Are you aware that times have changed?

2 million copies today is too fuckin much... In less than a year...

You may find it laughable, but I'm afraid you're pretty much on your own with that opinion.

This is a VR vs Guns thread.....

No it isn't. There's no "versus" going on here, this thread is about Axl's supposed opinion of Contraband.

I don`t think that Axl said something like that. I don`t like Contraband, I bought it and listened a few times but that`s it. Axl`s new stuff is imo better than most songs of old gnr. And if Axl said that it was definetely a compliment, but i doubt that he said it and he was right if he`d say that Slash and Duff are wasting their talent. I really like Slash`s Snakepit for example and I haven`t heard Duff`s Solo stuff, but Contraband is not a good album in my eyes.

& is why I'll comment cuzzz I never got into the vs crap for it will warp your mind. a couple points

1. Slash is really opennly honest like too honest at times. He talks. He was asked a simple question
2. The mutual friend can simply be Duff as over recent years is the one kept friendly & some werid friendly conversations with Axl
3. I think if this was his congrats = Its an open comment & quite smart. The fact is that the CB album was rushed a bit. So the comment can lay a little sarcasm (esp with the time factor), as well as saying nothing great or bad.

so for those of you who say "well don't see Axl saying that"  >>  wtf?  warped
