OK, to be very clear...Paul does not suck.  You may not like his "style", you may not be the biggest fan, you may not particuarly enjoy his genre of music.  But he is, was, and will always be a genius.  To even insinuate otherwise is tantamount to sacrelidge.

He was 1/4 of the single most popular and influential band in history.  He was 1/2 of the major songwriting juggernaut behind that band.  The man has been successful, amazingly, wildly successful, for 4 decades.  He is one of the most prolific and successful songwriters EVER. He's trancended genre's on more occasions that I can count. His talent is undeniable, and is deserving of a certain amount of respect.

So, to reiterate, just so we're clear: Paul does not suck.

here, here.? ?beer

Besides, Axl (And the Orig G'n'R) obviously were influenced by him if they remade one of his tunes. 'cause guns version of Live And Let Die is obviously not a parody.

I think the next thing on Axl's Agenda will be to release CD. (so we should have it within 5 years or so from now  Smiley )

I can't beleive how many people all over internet message boards are blasting McCartney's performance.  Compare his performance yesterday to anything from the last decade of halftime shows, and it should come out on top.

What else was better, Aerosmith's sell out performance with Britney Spears and the Backstreet Boys, or to that crap with Kid Rock, Justin and Janet last year?  No Doubt ... U2?  All have pretty much sucked.

I'm also a bit suprised that people think Axl would have been the bigger draw if he would have shown up ... maybe for a small minority, but most people (and everyone over the age of 40) would have said, "Honey, who was that weird guy with the cornrows that ruined the song?"  Which isn't to say it wouldn't have been cool for GNR fans if Axl had been there, but come on guys, Axl would not have left the typical viewer asking "Paul who?"

For fuck's sake, get off your high horse. He might be talented, and perhaps even a genius of a sort, but it doesn't mean he can't be a lame performer and boring to watch. Someone might even go as far as to say he sucks, so get over it.

Listen, McCartney's performance was excellent. ?For god's sake, the guy is 60-something years old! ?He doesn't lip-synch and he kicked ass. ?Would I have loved to see Axl doin' LALD? ?You're damn right! ?Would I have loved seein' me do the hot chick in Black-Eyed Peas (the one in the boots)? ?You're damn right!

I never expected Axl to be there...BUT...am I the only one here at the board who popped UYI 1 in and blasted Live and Let Die right after Paul's performance was done??? ?Of course followed by NR and Coma. Smiley ?Then DTJMF and PC??? ?Then proceeded to reach for my 5th drink only to accidentally knock over and break my nice glass??? ?My wife wasn't too happy! ?Smiley

Rock on Gunners! ? beer

What's next???  Only Axl knows.  Cry

Alrite so my friend was saying "maybe axl will come out At halftime with mccartney" and I quickly put him down, mocked his intelligence, shattered his self esteem, etc. But I have to admit when I heard them starting live and let die I really thought Axl was coming out lol Ahh well. He could announce it on queer eye for the straight guy at this point and I would be thrilled.

we should have an official "GnR at the next big event rumour" stickie thread so that we dont get the same old "some guy IMed me saying axl's gonna be at the vma/superbowl/grammies/ama next week" threads..

what's next?
probably 'the grammies didn't happen" ?hihi

i truly believe the next time we hear/see Axl will be when the album release date is set and a tour is planned.
and i don't think its going to be on TV or on the radio --I think it will be done by official press release (like the rio 4/buckethead annoucement).

Then that someone would be completely and demonstrably wrong, as well as showing themselves to be a disrespectful lout...which is OK.  If that person wants to be wrong, and a lout, so be it.  But they would be...because Paul does not suck.

No, to be clear....some people thought his performance was boring, which is valid criticism of the producers of the halftime show. ?They downplayed to cover for the Janet Jackson fiasco of last year. ?Notice: They did not say he "sucks"...because, of course, he doesn't. ?And, as I said, having the opinion that you do not enjoy his musical stylings or his performances is perfectly valid. ?But that does not mean he sucks. ?You don't suck and sell more albums than any other musical group in history. ?You don't suck and be the single most influential band in history. ?You don't suck and write more #1 hits than any other song writer(s) in history. ?What sucks would be pissing on a legend and not offering them the respect that 4 successful decades in the music industry should buy them....

Edit: Adz, sorry..posted before your post was visible.  I'd be happy to take the discussion to BO.
