HERE'S THE GNR PARTS OF WHAT BRAIN HAD TO SAY.

DRUM!? We have to ask.? Guns N? Roses.? Can we talk about this?
Brain:? I talked with Tom about this (interview) too, and he said, ?As long as you don?t get into personal stuff, as long as it?s about music, I?m totally fine with that.?? And that?s what Axl says.? I can?t say what Axl eats, but I can talk about my playing.

maybe he says them because his part are done, maybe he feels like he's a working musician or a hired gun and that it's not really his thing this GN'R project, maybe he lnows he'll be on the album, but won't tour with GN'R again so in that way he's done with gn'r, could be that since it's not his decisions to make, he won't call it his band... lets say the album flopps, at least he can say, well it wasn't really my thing, maybe he's afraid of that...

5% could be a beer, or a whine cooler?

I don't think Brain feels like he's a hired gun with respect to GN'R.  In fact, if you look back at his interview recently in Rhythm Magazine, he talks about his role in GN'R being in contrast to being a session player, or "hired gun."  He pointed to the fact that he had a hand in writing the material on the new GN'R record.

I just think that his parts have been recorded, and he isn't directly involved with the mixing, mastering or artwork, so he uses the term "they."

And Yes, music magazines often carry 3 months old interview.

Sanctuary's deal proclaims that dozens of new songs with vocals on have been recorded.
And here He says he heard the album recently.

the 5% is not of the music/album. It's only me, but I sense there are two subjects, "Chinese Democracy" and the damn album.

So, Alternatively, I take the 100 percent as the whole process of "Chinese Democracy" alleged to have started in 2002. And the outstanding 5% has of course something to do with what Axl eats. 

10% ='s about 1 year so 5% ='s about 6 months. It's been over 10 years, so let's just say that 5% =' about 5 months, or 4 months for good measure as the interview is probably some weeks old   

Objection!!! Chinese Democracy started in 2002. It's been a little over 2yrs.

Speculating as to why he used the word "they" could be because he is contracted to GNR he is not a full member, maybe he was payed to record CD and thats it. Maybe he will be offered to tour (hopefully) but he knows he isnt for the long run. (Besides Axl and maybe Dizzy can anyone feel for the long run with gnr anymore??)

Here's hoping it's the latter.  In another news report it said that "Rose recently recorded dozens of new tracks" - this should include vocals. They should just put a photo of the band on the cover - I'd be happy with that.

I agree that 95% is a figure of speech meaning it's almost done.
It seems pretty clear that the band members have finshed recording their parts so when Brain refers to 'them' I would say he's referring to Axl putting finishing touches on and/or the mixers, engineers, producers etc...

But given the amount of time spent recording and the rumoured amounts of tracks parts etc.., I'm of the belief that mixing will take a long time, especially when considering the fact that Axl is a perfectionist.
