The NFL is the biggest of the major sports
their games get huge ratings
the NBA barely draws a 1.1
the NFL gets almost double digits
ratings wise, way more people watch the super bowl than any other event.
also the NBA market their players whereas the NFL is a league based on teams and not individuals

Thanks 2 those who went 2 Mustang Harry's on May 12th. That made my first concert experience something I'll never forget. Never did I feel like I fit in anywhere as much as I did amongst you strangers

it would be cool if he sung with paul, i'm also a geek... like nikki sixx?
This is 2004,not 1994.Nobody besides us would be interested in seeing that. No kidding.? They couldnt even sell out shows on their last US tour.? I dont think anyone would ask them, and band that features only one original GNR member, to do a halftime superbowl show.? Coming to this board and loving GNR as much as we do, we fail to realize that most people dont care about them, have never heard of Chinese Democracy, and wouldnt even know who the hell was playing music if they started playing at the Superbowl. the Superbowl isn't a great place to play than MTV Music Awards, Rock in Rio or the Caracas Pop Festival in Venezuela ...the Superbowl is just a place where Axl doesn't care about!!!! only stupid rock stars agree to play there to get some money...N'Sync played with Aerosmith in 2001 , hell!, those guys needed money to survive really ?

The NFL was never going to let someone like Axl anywhere near a stage......that's why they got someone safe like McCartney. Some of you are dillusional in the sense you convince yourselves these types of scenarios can really happen. The Super Bowl is the biggest sporting spectacle in America. GNR hasn't released a new album in over 10 years, they don't qualify as the type of act the NFL is looking for. I wish those of you who were holding out hope he would show up at the Super Bowl would realize how truly ridiculous the very thought of it is.

It's not that big of a deal; we're used to relying on mere speculations. If no one shows up, we'll move on to the next speculation.
